CREO Mark 1 FAQ: Everything You Want to Know

The CREO Mark 1 was recently launched and it would surely be one of the best in its category, thanks to the software enhancements done by the company. But, for a new company to establish itself, there are a lot of questions that are to be answered. As usual, we do an FAQ series where most of the important and frequently asked questions by the users are asked, and since we have the unit with us, we try to answer them to make it easier for the users to know more about the phone.

What are the main specifications of the Mark 1?

The main specifications include a 5.5-inch Quad HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection, MediaTek Helio X10 processor with 3GB RAM, a combination of 21-megapixel rear and 8-megapixel front-facing cameras, and a 3100 mAh battery. Running a forked version of Android 5.1 Lollipop, CREO calls it the Fuel OS for the interface on the Mark 1.

Does the display have any glass protection?

There is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection provided on the screen of Mark 1.

What are the sensors included in the phone?

The CREO Mark 1 includes G-sensor (accelerometer), L-sensor (Light sensor), P-sensor (proximity sensor), HALL sensor, Indicator light, Gyroscope, E-compass, and FM receiver.

Does the phone support 4G connectivity?

Yes, there is support for 4G LTE connectivity and the bands supported include TD-LTE Band 40 (2300 MHz) and FDD-LTE Band 3 (1800 MHz) and Band 8 (900 MHz).

What are the dimensions and weight of the phone?

The dimensions are 155.4 x 76.1 x 8.7 mm, and the Mark 1 is quite heavy with the weight of 190 grams.

Does the glass body of the phone resist fingerprints?

Even though the front glass didn’t show up fingerprints that easily, the glass back of the CREO Mark 1 is a fingerprint magnet and you’d see it filled with marks and smudges, which are easy to clean off, though.

Does the Mark 1 have a secondary microphone?

Yes, the first microphone is hidden into one of the speaker grills, while the secondary microphone is located just beside the dual LED light on the back of the phone. It helps ins noise cancellation during calls.

Is it a dedicated MicroSD card slot on the Creo Mark 1 or a hybrid SIM slot?

The phone has a hybrid SIM card slot where you can either insert a Nano SIM on the secondary slot or choose to have a MicroSD card instead of the SIM if you want extra storage. The Fuel OS in Creo Mark 1 calls it as a Smart Slot, though the functionality is the same as a hybrid slot.

Are the capacitive touch navigation buttons backlit?

Yes, the capacitive touch buttons on the Creo Mark 1 are backlit and the light is on for all the time when the screen is active.

What is the available internal storage in the Mark 1?

The phone has 32GB ROM and in that, about 23.6GB of storage is available to the user, and a MicroSD card can be inserted to expand the storage by a further 128GB.

What is the amount of free RAM available to the user after a fresh boot?

About 1.92GB was available to the user after a reboot, and originally the phone has 3GB of RAM, so about 1GB of RAM is being used by the system processes.

Does the CREO Mark 1 support USB OTG connectivity?

Yes, there is support for USB OTG connectivity and you can connect any OTG drive to easily transfer files to and from the device to the drive.

Since this is a glass body, is the phone heating while gaming or charging?

The CREO Mark 1 does get easily warm on charging even when using a standard power bank, it does well get heated while the fast charging is on. Similar is the case with gaming where the phone is heating to an extent where you can easily feel that, but the case of heating is common for glass body.

Is there an adaptive brightness option provided in the phone?

Adaptive brightness is a feature that would optimise the brightness level of the phone based on the available light around. The Mark 1 has the Adaptive brightness feature provided under Display settings.

Does the phone have a smart roaming feature?

Yes, the Mark 1 has the Smart Roaming feature which will help in automatic setting up of a default SIM based on the location. This is done to minimise the roaming charges for the user. Also, if you want to have everything done on a Single SIM even if both are inserted, the phone has a Smart Forwarding feature as well.

Does the Mark 1 have NFC connectivity?

No, there is no NFC support in the device, and you can see only Wi-Fi, Data, and Bluetooth as the wireless connectivity options.

Are there any power saving modes available in the device?

The battery life of any smartphone is a concern for the users, and the Creo Mark 1 does have the standard Battery Saver function that is available as a part of stock Lollipop OS. You can access it by going to Settings > Battery > Battery Saver, and here, keep it active for either 5% or 15% battery level. The battery saver would improve the battery life by reducing the device’s performance, limitation vibration, location services, and even most of the background data.

Is there a support for slow-motion video recording in the Creo Mark 1?

Yes, there is support for slow motion video recording on the device. Interestingly, the support for Slo-mo videos is for 120 FPS at 1080p Full HD resolution. Most of the other phones have been able to provide Slow motion videos at that speed with only a 720p resolution.

Does the Creo Mark 1 have FM radio pre-installed?

Yes, there is FM Radio available as an app in the device, and you can run it by plugging the headphones into the jack.

What are the pre-installed apps in the device?

The pre-installed apps in the device include Google Play apps (Chrome, Drive, Gmail, Google, Maps, Photos, Play Music, Play Games, Play Store, and Youtube), and FM Radio, File Manager, Retriever, ReFuel, Sound Recorder and the standard apps that you see on every Android smartphone.

What about the after-sales service of the Mark 1?

The company is said to have set up about 106 service centers across 96 cities so that there are no issues of service once the device starts selling. In about 10 major cities, there is a pickup and drop service that will be offered to the users.
