Xiaomi Mi5 teardown gives a glimpse at what Xiaomi’s flagship holds within

Xiaomi launched their latest Flagship the Mi 5 in Barcelona earlier this week and revealed the internal specs and the hardware specs along with images about the device design and look. Thanks to IT168 we can now get a glimpse at the internal build and parts of Xiaomi’s Flagship in this tear down.

Xiaomi Mi 5 sports a 5.15-inch fullHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It is powered by a Snapdragon 820 SoC and comes in three variants based on the RAM and storage options, the pro version comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB internal storage while the other two come with 3GB of RAM. This teardown confirms one thing which was a bit of a confusion initially about the microSD card which us not present, the device sports an NFC Chip along with the dual SIM card slots which gave rise to the confusion.

Specifications of Xiaomi Mi5:

  • Display: 5.15-inch FullHD display with resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit Quad-Core SoC with Adreno 530 GPU
  • RAM and Storage: 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, 3GB RAM with 64 GB Storage and 4GB RAM variant with 128GB storage (Mi 5 Pro)

There are no surprises inside, but we can have a glimpse at the tech used to power this flagship and how Xiaomi managed to fit in a Fingeprrint sensor, 3000mAh battery, the impressive rear camera which Xiaomi claims to have  the best OIS in the industry. One thing which we noticed is, it is pretty easy to replace the battery with a new one without much work.

We saw in the Galaxy S7 that there is an additional cooling system in place to dissipate the heat from the powerful Snapdragon 820 but here we could not find any from the images. We have to wait and see how Xiaomi has managed to keep the heating issues under control with the Mi 5 and how efficient it turns out to be.
