Xiaomi Redmi Pro with 5.5-inch OLED display, Dual-rear Camera launched in China

Xiaomi has officially launched the Redmi Pro, the flagship smartphone in the Redmi series in an event in China. The Redmi Pro was teased quite a few times and the last teaser had the founder and CEO of the company, Lei Jun, posting the picture with himself holding the device and showing the back of the phone, confirming what was teased a few days ago.

The Xiaomi Redmi Pro rocks a metal body with the brushed aluminum finish on the back. There are CNC chamfered edges on both, front and back of the device. The front of the device has a fingerprint sensor under a ceramic button. It has an OLED display with the 5.5-inch screen size, and the OLED display has 100% NTSC color gamut.

Under the hood, the Redmi Pro is powered by the MediaTek Helio X25 Deca-core CPU (2x Cortex-A72 @ 2.5GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 @ 2.0GHz, 4x Cortex-A53 @ 1.55GHz) along with Mali-T880 GPU and 3GB/4GB of RAM. There are variants based on internal storage (32GB, 64GB, and 128GB) with a Hybrid SIM slot, so the second SIM slot can be used for memory expansion if needed. Also, the basic variant has Mediatek Helio X20 chipset.

It is a Dual camera setup on back, with a combination of 13-megapixel + 5-megapixel cameras, helping in dynamic depth of field. While the main camera has a Sony IMX 258 sensor, the additional camera for DOF is a Samsung sensor. These cameras capture simultaneously and there is hardware-level DOF processing done. Also, Xiaomi has included ImagiQ, a dedicated processor for the processing of Depth of field images. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera for selfies and video calls.

The Redmi Pro runs MIUI based on Android Marshmallow OS and it has a USB Type-C connectivity. For the connectivity, there is support for 4G LTE along with VoLTE support, apart from all the standard connectivity options. The device has a 4050 mAh battery packed in, just like is the case with the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

The pricing of the Xiaomi Redmi Pro begins from 1499 Yuan (about Rs. 15110). We’ll soon update about the availability as well as the launch outside the home market. The color options are Gold, Silver, and Dark Grey.

Xiaomi has also launched the Mi Notebook Air laptop.
