GoPro Hero with 10MP sensor launched in India for 18,990

GoPro, Inc. has launched a new action-camera, GoPro HERO, to its existing GoPro line-up, in Mumbai on March 29. The new camera from GoPro wants to replace your phone to capture the best and impossible photos and videos, which otherwise wouldn’t be possible using a smartphone.

The new GoPro HERO has a 2” touchscreen display that is said to make it easier to operate the camera, while the screen itself has a 320×480 pixels resolution. You can happily take the camera for water-sports without any fear of water-damaging it, as the camera is waterproof up to 33-feet (10 meters). The camera has 4 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to an extra 128 GB using a MicroSD card.

As for the camera itself, the new camera from GoPro HERO has a 10 MP 1/2.3-inch CMOS sensor. The new HERO camera can shoot videos up to a maximum resolution of 1440p at 60 fps. You get an option to shoot videos at 1080p resolution at 60 fps frame rate as well. Additionally, the camera can take 10 MP still images and has an ISO range of 100-1600. The camera can take still images and time lapses as well. The camera also comes with voice control features using which you can tell the HERO to take a photo, start or stop recording and more. The HERO has video stabilization to help you smooth out shaky videos.

Commenting on the launch of the HERO Meghan Laffey, GoPro’s SVP said,

“HERO is a great first GoPro for people looking to share experiences beyond what a phone can capture. HERO makes it easy to share ‘wow’ moments at a price that’s perfect for first-time users.”

The GoPro HERO is said to be extremely durable and waterproof and would be a perfect companion for Adventurous social shares, travelers and for your kids too. The camera also supports offloading of your photos and videos through their GoPro app, so you don’t really need to plug-in to your PC every time you want to move files from the camera to PC. Like every-other GoPro, the HERO is also compatible with 30+ mounting accessories.

“We are delighted to be a part of this exclusive partnership with GoPro. GoPro HERO adds to our world class selection and will help strengthen Flipkart’s dominant leadership in cameras. At Flipkart, we have a big customer base of passionate travellers &; outdoor fans that are becoming more and more important. Along with GoPro we want to give them the perfect camera to capture their adventures”

added Adarsh Menon, Vice President and Head-Electronics and Private Labels, Flipkart.

As for the availability in India, the GoPro HERO is Flipkart exclusive product and will go on sale from April 2. Interested buyers can pre-book the GoPro HERO from March 30 and would cost you 18,990 to capture your precious underwater adventures.
