Micromax has launched the Canvas Xpress 2 E313 in the Canvas series which will be available exclusively on Flipkart. The latest Canvas device is having some decent specifications and is priced very attractively compared to the earlier model in the series the Canvas Xpress A99. Micromax has launched this device to compete with the budget category devices and let us see how both the devices fare in comparison to each other in all segments.
Display:
The Canvas Xpress 2 E313 comes with a bigger 5-inch IPS display in comparison to the 4.5 inch IPS display in the Canvas Xpress A99. In the resolution aspect the Xpress 2 E313 wins it with a HD display having resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels compared to the ordinary 854 x 480 pixels resolution display in the Canvas A99. The Xpress 2 also comes with Gorilla Glass 3 protection which is missing in the Xpress A99.

Processor and RAM:
In this aspect as well the Canvas Xpress 2 seems to be having an upper hand with a 1.4GHz Octa-core Mediatek processor with Mali 450 GPU compared to the 1.3 GHz Quad-core Mediatek MT6582V/X processor. Both the devices come with similar 1GB RAM support.
Operating System:
The operating system is similar in both the devices out of the box but the Xpress 2 E313 is scheduled to get Android Lollipop 5.0 update and the Canvas Xpress A99 is not listed to get the Lollipop update in the near future.
Camera:
The Canvas Xpress 2 E313 comes with 13MP primary camera with Omnivision sensor and having dual LED flash along with a 2MP front facing camera compared to the 5MP primary camera with VGA front facing camera in the Canvas Xpress A99. In this segment as well the lastest Xpress 2 E313 seems to be the winner over its predecessor.
Storage:
Both the devices come with similar 8GB internal memory with microSD card support to expand it up to 32GB.
Battery:
The Canvas Xpress 2 E313 comes with 2150 mAh Li-ion battery compared to the 1950 mAh Li-ion battery in the Canvas Xpress A99 which is a marginal advantage to the Xpress 2 in comparison the Xpress A99.
Pricing:
The Xpress 2 E313 although having better specifications in all the aspects is priced lower when compared the Canvas Xpress A99. The Xpress 2 is priced at Rs. 5,999 compared to the Xpress A99 which is priced at Rs. 6,999.
Conclusion:
Looking at all the features the Xpress 2 E313 seems to be the winner in all segments with having a 720p HD display compared to the 480p display in its predecessor the Canvas A99. In the processor segment the Canvas 2 is having an Octa-core MediaTek compared to the Quad-core MediaTek processor in the A99. The camera is also improved with 13MP in Canvas 2 compared to the 5MP in the Canvas A99 along with the Android Lollipop 5.0 update news. With all these additions the device has been priced lower than the earlier model which is great move by Micromax making the Canvas 2 E313 a better device in all segments compared to the Canvas A99.
