Redmi 1s vs Redmi 2

And now, Xiaomi is busy updating their existing Smartphone lineup again in India. Xiaomi recently updated the Mi3 with the Mi4 and now, Xiaomi is up with the Xiaomi Redmi 2, an update for the Xiaomi Redmi 1s.

Xiaomi Redmi 1s is still one of the best Android Smartphones below RS. 7,000 in India and the Redmi 2 tends to keep the same legacy.

The Xiaomi Redmi 1s featured a 4.7 inch IPS LCD HD display with AGC Dragontrail Glass protection, 1.6 GHz quad processor, 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage with MicroSD card expansion support up to 32 GB, 8 MP primary camera and a 1.6 MP secondary camera and a 2000 mAh battery.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 keeps much of the same internals but with improvements. For starters, the processor is now a 1.4 GHz Snapdragon 410, which is a 64 bit processor, the front facing camera is bumped to 2 MP, the display now has a Corning Gorilla Glass protection instead of the Dragontrail protection, 4G LTE support and the battery has been improved to 2200 mAh as well. It is important to note that all these improvements have been made by keeping the price of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 same as the previous Xiaomi Redmi 1s.

Other improvements include fast charging technology, which charges up to 30% in 30 minutes and a thinner and lighter design.

By the introduction of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 in India, Xiaomi has also withdrawn the Redmi 1s model from its official online vendor Flipkart. Hence, those who looking for a Xiaomi model under RS.7,000 is now only left with the Redmi 2 model.

And if you are wondering whether the upgrades done to the Redmi 2 over the Redmi 1s is justifiable, then the specifications list might answer your query.

However, please do note that Xiaomi will be soon launching a 2GB RAM, 16 GB ROM variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 2 in India soon. The variant currently sold in India has 1GB of RAM and 8 GB ROM.
