Sony has been and will be coming out with new devices one after the other, the Xperia C5 Ultra has been announced recently along with the Xperia M5. The gap between the C4 and C5 Ultra is just three months which is the same the Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia M5.

Let’s compare both the devices from all aspects and see what Sony has upgraded in the C5 Ultra against the C4. In the comparison between Sony Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia M5 we could see a lot of upgrades in the latest model but between the C5 Ultra and C4 there seem to be slight changes but nothing substantial.

Display:

The display in the C5 Ultra as the name suggests is big with a 6-inch fullHD display in comparison to the fullHD 5.5 inch display of Xperia C4. The increase in size of the display without increase in the resolution can be seen with a spread of pixels and the ppi coming down to 367 ppi pixel density in the C5 Ultra from 401 ppi pixel density in the Xperia C4. One main feature of C5 Ultra is the screen to body ratio which is 75.9% making it almost look like there are no bezels. Both the device come with scratch resistant protection from Sony Mobile Bravia Engine 2.

This higher screen to body ratio has also helped Sony in keeping the size of the device compact with the Xperia C4 measuring 150.3 x 77.4 x 7.9 mm and the Xperia C5 Ultra measuring 164.2 x 79.6 x 8.2 mm, having an increase in 12mm of height.

Processor and RAM:

In the processor and RAM aspect both the device come with the same processor and RAM. The chipset used in Xperia C5 ultra and C4 is the Mediatek MT6752 Octa-core 1.7GHz processor with Cortex A-53 chip. The RAM is also similar with 2GB and internal storage of 16GB in both the devices. So there is nothing much to compare here as both carry the same engine.

Camera:

There has been a minor upgrade in this segment with the front camera in the Xperia C5 Ultra getting a 13MP shooter along with LED flash in comparison to the 5MP shooter without LED flash in Xperia C4. The Rear camera are same with a 13MP camera in both the devices having LED flash. The secondary camera in the Xperia C5 ultra is capable pf recording 1080p videos at 30fps, and also has Autofocus feature. If you look at the camera the Xperia C5 Ultra is the sure winner with a great front camera.

Battery and OS:

The battery in the Xperia C5 Ultra has also become bigger with the increase in the display. The Xperia C5 Ultra comes with 2930 mAh battery improved from the 2600 mAh battery in the Xperia C4. With the increase in Display size both these device will be having similar talk time and battery life because of the increased usage from the bigger display of the Xperia C5 Ultra. One thing which I never liked about Sony was that they give non-removable batteries and the same has continued with the C5 Ultra as well.

There is not much difference in the Operating System as both these devices were launched in a span of few months. They run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS.

Conclusion:

Both the devices are more of less similarly placed and if you are planning to choose from either of the one then keep note of just two things, one is the camera if you are a person who takes a lot of selfies then the Xperia C5 Ultra is the one for you as it has a 13MP front camera with LED flash compared to the 5MP front camera in Xperia C4.

Antoher aspect is the size of the display, the Xperia C5 Ultra comes under the phablet category with 6-inch display and if you do not mind larger displays then you will like it because of the higher screen to body ratio making the display look like it is covering the whole front of the device from side to side, making it look better.

Alternate phones in similar price: OnePlus One, Sony Xperia Z Ultra, and the Samsung Galaxy S5.
