List of Smartphones with USB Type C connectivity

So, you’ve heard of the Type-C USB port. But, you may not be aware of its true potential. This upgrade from microUSB 2.0 port is so powerful and big that this is going to set a new bar in the smartphone tech in coming future.

Starting with the comfortability feature of being reversible, its potential range from running multiple 4k displays through a PC (example, new MacBook). Even Thunderbolt 3 comes with the same Type-C connectivity.

If you’re interested in using this future proof technology now, then you don’t have to wait any further, as we already have a dozen of phones equipped with the tech. Let me start with the list of smartphones with USB Type C connectivity.

USB Type-C

#1 Huawei Nexus 6P

Nexus 6P is what Google has to offer before 2015 ends, and the phone falls in our category of smartphones with Type-C port. Apart from running the pure and latest Android Marshmallow OS, it packs a very practical camera, solid build quality, vivid and punchy 5.7-inch QHD display, and a battery of 3,450mAh rating.

#2 LG Nexus 5X

Nexus 5X was released along the 6P by Google this year, which followed the platform created by Nexus 5 earlier. It features the modern reversible USB port along with above mid-range specifications. Snapdragon 808 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 5.2-inch full HD display, same 12.3MP camera as of its bigger sibling, and a 2,700mAh battery. The phone runs the latest and pure Android Marshmallow OS.

#3 OnePlus 2

Apart from being hyped as a flagship killer of 2015, this phone is a serious player. At least from the way I look at it, as it offers high-end specs but carries a mid-range price tag. Currently, the phone is running Android Lollipop-powered Oxygen OS, but OnePlus is working on bringing the Marshmallow upgrade in near future. The phone packs Snapdragon 810 SoC, 3/4GB of RAM, 5.5-inch full HD resolution display, a 13MP camera at rear with f/2.0, and a fingerprint scanner. Recently, the company removed ‘invite-only’ batch from the phone, making it easily available.

#4 Gionee S6

If you like to have another entry from a Chinese OEM, then we have Gionee S6 for the consideration as it completes the requirements for this compilation featuring a Type C 1.0 reversible connector. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop based Amigo OS skin and is powered by MediaTek MT6753 SoC carrying octa-core processor inside with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The phone has a very impressive design and noteworthy build quality. You can also check the Gionee Elife S Plus which also qualifies for this list.

#5 Meizu PRO 5

The flagship from Meizu is, of course, going to make it here with its Type C 1.0 reversible connector placed at the bottom. 21MP shooter is featuring at the rear which is the key attraction, and other features it packs are 5.7-inch FHD display, Exynos 7420 SoC with an octa-core processor and option to pick between 3GB and 4GB RAM.

#6 Xiaomi Mi 4c

If you can somehow find a way to buy Mi 4c, then it’s one of my recommendation here, as it fits the criteria. It packs some decent specs and primarily focuses on offering a high-end user experience. It comes in two variants 2GB RAM with 16GB storage and 3GB RAM with 32GB storage.

#7 Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950 XL

These are the latest Microsoft flagships or Lumia flagship devices running the very modern and very best Windows Phone 10 OS. Both these phones defer at the screen size, build size, and few internal specifications, but they carry the same Type-C reversible USB cable.

#8 LeEco Le 1s and Le 1s Eco

The low mid-range smartphone from the Chinese brand LeEco stunned with what was provided at its price. The phone had MediaTek Helio X10 processor, 3GB of RAM and a 3000 mAh battery, to add to the USB Type C connectivity. Later, the company launched an Eco variant that had a free 1-year LeEco membership with a lot of content offered for free.

#9 Xiaomi Mi 5

The flagship smartphone from Xiaomi for the year 2016 indeed is packed with not just the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, but thanks to the USB Type C connectivity, the phone also supports the Quick Charge 3.0 technology for a fast charging capability. The device also features a fingerprint scanner.

#10 Gionee Marathon M5 Plus

This is a smartphone with 5020 mAh battery and it has a large 6-inch display with 1080p resolution, but to charge that large capacity battery, there needs to be a good connectivity as well, so Gionee decided to come up with the USB Type-C connectivity with it.

#11-12 LeEco Le 2 and Le 2 Pro

The Le 2 and Le 2 Pro are the successors to the Le 1s and they are surely powered with a lot. The thing to notice here is that the company hasn’t let the USB Type-C to be only for charging, but the same port will now have the audio output, with the company’s new CDLA technology for the same.

#13 LeEco Le Max 2

This flagship smartphone from LeEco has Snapdragon 820 and the USB Type-C takes support of the CDLA technology for the music output and there is support for fast charging as well.

    1. Best Android option I’ve found with USB C that supports SD card still is the LG G5. Removable battery on the G5 is a plus IMO as well. To me those 2 things are a must & can’t bring myself to buy a phone without so it’s been frustrating. I really liked my Galaxy S4 but refused to upgrade because of that. Now I find myself an LG fan so we’ll see.

  1. There’s something i discovered about the type c charger.. Yes its fast, but i think in the maintime it start drawing more current that exceed the adaptor’s.. 2.0A cable or 2.5 with an adapter of 2.0…so i suggest all type c cable users.. Should use an adapter of 2.5A..

  2. The essential phone has had this port from the beginning. I just wish they would do a sequel phone. Because this phone is awesome without all the extra stuff.
