The list of Indian languages which are supported by Twitter for web and Android is getting bigger with four new languages being added to the existing two local languages which were added long time back. The languages are not available for any iOS devices like iPhone or iPad which support only Hindi.
The languages which were added today are Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada and Tamil. These four languages now join Hindi and Bengali which were added almost a year back. Now you can post in your desired language from the six Indian languages present now from Twitter website or the Twitter Android App. Unfortunately iOS only supports Hindi, so you can only write in Hindi from your iPhone or iPad.
How to change or select language in Twitter Web:
- Tap on your photo icon on the right side top of your screen
- Now tap on Settings from the drop down menu
- You will find the option of Language, tap on it and you will get the list of languages available and scroll to the bottom to find these four new added languages.
- Select which ever language which you require and post with it
How to change or select language in Twitter Android App:
Here you have to take note that Twitter will only support languages which are supported by your smartphone.
So you will get the language support from your smartphone and twitter supports only the above mentioned six languages
If your smartphone does not support any language then you cannot get it on twitter
If you are wondering from where is the language database coming to help convert the new Indian languages from English is via the Translation Center, this was revealed by Twitter and has also mentioned, if anyone is interested to contribute can do so by joining their translator community, to help make the translations to the recently released Indian languages even better.
