The OnePlus 2 went on sale from August 11th in India, and we feel that not a good number of buyers have been able to get a hand on the device so far. Reason? the invite system, which was said to have improved a lot now, has actually gone wrong and we’ve been hearing how it got delayed in the U.S. already.
Now, what the Indian users are facing is even more weird. They have started receiving international invites, and these cannot be used to purchase the OnePlus 2 on Amazon India. It shows an error and the order cannot be placed. So, the invite is useless because it is a global invite.
We ourselves had an invite which we couldn’t claim, so we checked at the OnePlus forums to see if we are the only unlucky ones. But no, there were quite a few discussions today about the same. One of the forum replies said:
The invite says – Oneplus 2 India with the Amazon logo and link.
Below the red card image were the links for claiming the invite.
But below this was this particular line:
This invite is valid for: United States, Canada, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, United Kingdom, Hong Kong, Taiwan
The difference here is:
Global invite would be in this format: GLxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
Indian invite would be in this format: INxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
A solution for this? even we are looking for one, and OnePlus admins have just asked to wait and see if they could switch this with an Indian invite, but we don’t have any particular time given for the resolution.
A better invite system with quicker invites was what we were told this time, but not just the invites are showing up late, but they are unusable as well. Let’s see what OnePlus has to say about this, and if they are able to push out invites again to the same users to fix what is causing the trouble right now.
OnePlus 2 still is getting very positive reviews all around, just rising the interest in the minds of buyers, but the invite system as always has been an issue.
OnePlus has now sent an email to those who received the global invite, addressing the issue and letting them know that they can use the same invite to order the OnePlus 2, and now the ordering is possible as well.
OnePlus was quick to act upon this, or it would’ve just added to the woes users are facing to get an invite from the company.
