Caterpillar, the company which is known for making outdoor construction equipment has come out with another device in its rugged smartphone category and under the brand “Cat”, the Cat S40. Earlier to this, the company had launched the S50 in 2014, and even that was similarly made to give its users a perfect device to bear the brunt we take on during outdoor work. The S40 is an upgrade of the S50, and it comes with the following features.

The Cat 40 comes with a 4.7-inch qHD super bright display, protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection, it comes with a quad-core 1.1 GHz Snapdragon 210 processor and 1GB RAM. It is not the device with a powerful interior specs but is surely powerful in the hardware segment. It has 16GB of internal storage and can be expanded further using microSD card up to 64GB.

The Cat S40 comes with 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front shooter, it runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop and is powered by a 3000mAh Li-ion battery. The main features of the device are in the display and the build of the S40, as it comes with a one of a kind Glove-on technology which makes the display recognize fingers which are wet and responds to the touch. It comes with IP68 certification which means that it can withstand for 60 minutes under 1m of water, and is also dust resistant not allowing any dust under any circumstances.

The S40 also comes with a Military Standard 810G certification which makes the device drop and shock proof and the company claims that you can drop the device from a height of 6feet or 1.8m and the phone will not be affected by the fall.
