The “flagship killer” tag from last year is kept for the new smartphone from OnePlus, and that was expected, given how the company is including some heavy specs but still trying to be aggressive with the pricing. Let’s talk about the spec-heavy OnePlus 2, the newly launched flagship for 2015 from the Chinese manufacturer who held its dominant position last year for the value-for-money OnePlus One.
The OnePlus 2 was rumored to come with quite a lot, but the company itself started shelling out details on regular intervals, and we knew most of the important specs, even including the presence of a fingerprint scanner, as well as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 chipset powering it. The way it is going to sold, will not be surprising, as OnePlus has chosen to sell even this with the same invite system.

You’d see events happening with celebrities endorsing products at the biggest of venues, but the OnePlus 2 was launching through an Android app, using Virtual reality, the headsets for which were sold at a very reasonable price by the company, days before the launch. With that, you know that there might rarely be a compromise in the actual device that is being launched.
The OnePlus 2’s exterior is made from strong and lightweight aluminum alloy, and it still has the sandstone black finish on the back.
Display – OnePlus 2 retains the same screen size, i.e. a 5.5-inch with 1080p resolution display, and it come with a 1500:1 contrast ratio for blacker blacks, and brighter colors.
Processor – The internal configuration was quite known before the launch, as the OnePlus 2 being powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor, and along with that is Adreno 430 GPU and 4GB LPDDR4 RAM.
OS – It is the Oxygen OS based on Android Lollipop, and it brings in subtle changes to the stock ROM, with some handy features such as selection of custom accent colors, dark mode, support for icon packs, LED indicator customizer, and more.
App Permissions in Oxygen OS allows you to control what apps can access, such as your location, identity, or contacts.
Camera – The camera in OnePlus 2 is a 13-megapixel lens, with a pixel size of 1.3 microns, and it comes with Optical image stabilization as well as laser autofocus, which claims to be taking pictures in just 0.3 seconds.
The camera software has some good inclusions, like the super resolution mode, slow-motion video capturing, and even time lapse.
USB Type C port – The backward compatible USB Type C port is what comes included in the OnePlus 2, instead of the MicroUSB port that is seen in every other Android smartphone, with a very few exceptions.
Fingerprint sensor – This does look a bit like the Samsung’s home button on the front, but the one in OnePlus 2 does its job of swiftly registering fingerprints and unlocking the device. It can store up to five fingerprints.
The OnePlus 2 comes with a 3300 mAh battery, an upgrade again, from the OnePlus One, though keeping the size of the phone smaller than the predecessor.

Price and Availability of OnePlus 2:
The phone is going to be sold first in US, Canada, India, EU, and China on August 11! It will roll out in Southeast Asia in Q4 of 2015. We are yet to know about the price, but it was said that the phone will be coming with price no more than $450.
