Display

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a new 6.26-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2280×1080 pixels. The new resolution is due to the notched 19:9 screen that we have come to see in other xiaomi devices such as the Redmi 6 Pro and the flagship Mi 8 as well. The display has a 86% screen-to-body ratio with a maximum brightness of 500 nits that comes protected under Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

SOC & Software

Powering the Note 6 Pro is the same Snapdragon 636 SOC with Adreno 509 GPU handling the graphics. It comes in both 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage and a 6 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, with an option to expand the storage up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 on top.

Cameras

As for the cameras themselves, the Redmi Note 6 Pro uses a similar dual camera setup on the back, as the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The primary shooter has a 12 MP sensor with 1.4um pixels attached to a f/1.9 lens on top, with support for Dual PD Focus and Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS). The secondary 5 MP camera captures the depth information for portraits. Although the cameras seem virtually the same as the ones on the Note 5 Pro, they do come with AI scene recognition as well as AI portrait.

The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and as well as AI Face Unlock out of the box, for securing your smartphone. Also, don’t get fooled by the notch, as the facial unlock offered on the device is just the basic one which uses only the camera no other fancy IR tech, for unlocking. While there is an IR sensor, it resides on the top and offers quick remote functionalities.
