The Spanish manufacturer BQ has launched two device running on Ubuntu Os in India, the Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 will be available exclusively on Snapdeal from end of August. Both the devices run on Ubuntu OS, making them the first devices with Ubuntu OS to be launched in India. Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition is another device which was announced in June which also runs on Ubuntu OS but has been restricted to Europe and China.

The BQ Aquaris E4.5 comes with a 4.5-inch qHD display with resolution of 540×960 pixels having pixel density of 240 ppi. the E4.5 is powered by a quad-core MediaTek Cortex-A7 processor with clocking speed of 1.3GHz along with Mali 400 GPU. It is supported by 1GB of RAM and 8GB internal storage which can be expanded with microSD card up to 32GB.

The Aquaris E4.5 sports 8MP rear camera with BSI sensor and dual-LED flash, it has a 5MP front camera for selfies and with video calling facility. One unique feature of the camera in Aquaris E4.5 is the interpolation or picture stitching technology which will let you take 13MP images with the 8MP rear camera and 8MP pictures with the 5MP front camera. It runs on Ubuntu OS which comes with Scopes UI, it features sections like music, video and social which can be accessed with the help of a swipe from the home screen. The company has included Scopes like Zomato, Star Plus, Zee TV, Eros Now, NDTV and TOI which are India-specific.

The Aquaris E4.5 comes with 2150mAh Li-Po battery. It comes with connectivity features like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB with OTG, and FM radio.

Talking about the Aquaris E5 HD which sports a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 720×1280 pixels resolution having pixel density of 294ppi. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor which is supported by 1GB of RAM. It comes with 16GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. The Aquaris E5 HD runs on Ubuntu Touch OS with Scopes UI. It is powered by a 2500mAh battery which is non-removable.

The Aquaris E5 HD sports a 13MP rear camera with BSI sensor having Largan lens and dual LED flash, it sports a 5MP front camera for selfies and video calling enabled. The device measures 142x71x8.6mm in dimensions and weighs 134 grams. The connectivity features of the device are Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G (HSPA+), GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and FM radio.
