How to Set up Fingerprint Lock on the OnePlus 2

OnePlus 2 has become a really popular phone with its launch last month. It started selling on Amazon India about 2 weeks back and has seen an overwhelming response from the community. But as was the case with the older OnePlus One, getting your hands on the OnePlus Two isn’t that simple. It’s simply because of the invite system that OnePlus has in place. You need to wait in a queue to get the invite and once you get it, you generally have 48 hours to claim it and purchase your device.

Fortunately enough, we were able to get our hands on a OnePlus Two and we thought of doing this simple tutorial to highlight one of the most talked about feature of the OnePlus Two. In the tutorial below, we will tell you how you can set up a fingerprint on your OnePlus Two and use that to unlock your device with ease.

Set up Fingerprint Lock on OnePlus 2

To set up a fingerprint lock on the OnePlus 2, you need to follow two basic steps. First, add a fingerprint to your phone’s database and then set up the fingerprint lock. Here are the steps to help you do that.

    1. Go to Settings on your device and scroll down to Fingerprint
      Fingerprint Settings
    2. If you have a password set up on your device, you will be asked to enter it. Enter it now
    3. Next, you will be presented with a screen to add your fingerprint to the device. Click next here and tap your fingerprint, the one that you would use mostly to unlock your device. Preferably use the thumb of your dominant hand.

Quick Tips for using Fingerprint unlock on OnePlus 2

The fingerprint unlock on the OnePlus Two works 95% of the times on the unit that I am using and here are some quick tips.

    • You can place your finger on the fingerprint sensor even when the screen is turned off. Even in such a case, it will unlock your device without having to turn the screen on first.
    • As mentioned above, you will not be able to set up fingerprint unlock if you have not enabled any other type of security on your device. It is mandatory to do that first.

I hope the tutorial listed above helped you set up a fingerprint lock on your OnePlus 2. It definitely adds a layer of security to your device, without having to enter your password everytime you want to use it. Do let me know in the comments section below if you face any problem while setting this up. I’ll be happy to help you with it.
