Gyndore Public Testnet Is Live: What It Is and How to Participate

Gyndore has opened its public testnet, allowing anyone with an EVM-compatible wallet to try the protocol using free assets on Base Sepolia. Testers can connect a wallet, obtain test ETH for gas, mint a starter balance, make swaps, provide concentrated liquidity, stake GYND or bGYND and review their positions through the Portfolio page.

The testnet is designed to let the team observe how the application behaves with real users before a mainnet launch. All balances are test assets with no real-world value, and displayed prices, yields, contracts and features can change or reset.

This guide explains what Gyndore is trying to build, which parts are currently available on the public testnet, how to complete a first test run and what users should know about test assets, DropWave and possible rewards.

Important: This is a Base Sepolia testnet—not Gyndore mainnet. Do not send mainnet ETH, cbBTC, USDC or other valuable assets to testnet contracts. Test tokens cannot be sold, redeemed or transferred to mainnet.

What is Gyndore?

Gyndore describes itself as the Bitcoin liquidity hub of Base, Coinbase’s Ethereum Layer 2 network. It is being designed around cbBTC, Coinbase’s tokenized representation of Bitcoin, with the aim of bringing borrowing, trading and yield opportunities into one Bitcoin-focused DeFi system.

The broader proposed product has four main ideas:

  • Borrow: Use cbBTC as collateral to obtain liquidity without selling the Bitcoin exposure.
  • Trade: Access dedicated cbBTC markets rather than relying only on general-purpose decentralized exchanges.
  • Provide liquidity: Supply assets to concentrated-liquidity pools and potentially earn trading fees.
  • Earn: Receive yield intended to come from protocol borrowing and trading activity rather than token inflation alone.

Gyndore says cbBTC will be the only accepted collateral in its core borrowing system. Concentrating on one collateral type may simplify parts of the risk model, although it also makes the protocol dependent on cbBTC, Coinbase’s custody structure and Bitcoin price movements.

What is gynUSD?

gynUSD is the dollar-denominated asset Gyndore plans to let users mint against cbBTC collateral. The project says it will remain backed by collateral and be redeemable onchain for a dollar value of Bitcoin, creating an economic mechanism intended to support its peg.

That describes the intended mainnet system. The current public testnet walkthrough focuses on swaps, liquidity pools, GYND and bGYND staking, unbonding and Portfolio tracking. Users should not assume every borrowing or gynUSD feature described in the project’s wider design is already enabled in this testnet release.

What are GYND and bGYND?

GYND is planned as Gyndore’s protocol fee token. The project says users will be able to stake it for a share of revenue generated across the system without fixed lockups or withdrawal delays.

bGYND is the incentive form used for liquidity programmes, DropWave and other distributions. It is described as being backed one-for-one by GYND and capable of earning staking rewards. The testnet also includes an unbonding flow that converts bGYND to GYND after a cooldown and an additional testnet USDC payment. The GYND and bGYND balances available today are test tokens. They are not the mainnet tokens and have no cash value.

What is the Gyndore public testnet?

The public testnet is an experimental version of Gyndore running on Base Sepolia, the test network for Base. Base Sepolia uses valueless test ETH for transaction fees, enabling people to experiment without putting real crypto at risk.

The release currently includes:

  • A dashboard showing testnet activity
  • Swaps involving cbBTC, USDC, GYND, bGYND and supported community assets
  • Concentrated-liquidity pools
  • Market-creation tools
  • GYND and bGYND staking
  • bGYND unbonding
  • A Portfolio page for liquidity positions, staking, fees and rewards

Some interface tabs—including Limit, DCA and Cross-Chain—may be visible but disabled because they are not included in the current testnet release.

What do you need to participate?

You need:

  • An EVM wallet
  • The Base Sepolia network
  • A small amount of free Base Sepolia ETH for gas
  • Approximately 10–20 minutes for a basic test run

The Gyndore wallet menu currently lists Rainbow, Base Account, MetaMask and WalletConnect. Other EVM wallets may work through WalletConnect.

Verify the domain before connecting a wallet. Fake testnet and faucet links are common attack methods in crypto communities.

Step 1: Connect your wallet and switch to Base Sepolia

Open the official Gyndore testnet and select Connect Wallet. Choose your preferred wallet and approve the connection request.

If the application requests a network change, switch to Base Sepolia. Its chain ID is:

84532

A network-switch request should not require your recovery phrase. Wallet seed phrases and private keys must never be entered into Gyndore, a faucet, a support message or any website.

Step 2: Add the test assets to your wallet

The onboarding tour includes an Add to Wallet option for the main test assets:

  • cbBTC
  • USDC
  • GYND
  • bGYND

Your wallet may present a separate asset-import confirmation for each token. Adding them only makes the balances visible in the wallet interface; it does not mint them or give them value.

Some wallets do not automatically import testnet tokens. In that case, Gyndore may show an Add by hand option with the contract addresses. Verify every address through the testnet interface or its linked Base Sepolia block-explorer page before importing it.

You can still use the balances inside the Gyndore application even if the wallet does not display every token.

Step 3: Get free Base Sepolia ETH

Every approval, mint, swap, liquidity or staking transaction requires a small amount of Base Sepolia ETH for gas. Select Get Testnet ETH in Gyndore to open a faucet.

The official guide initially directs users to the Alchemy Base Sepolia faucet. Alchemy may require an eligible wallet with some mainnet balance or previous Ethereum activity. If the wallet does not qualify, alternatives include the Coinbase Developer Platform faucet and the faucet directory maintained in Base’s official documentation.

You need only a small balance. Testnet ETH is free and cannot be converted into mainnet ETH. Avoid any “faucet” demanding a seed phrase, a payment or token approval on mainnet.

Step 4: Mint the Gyndore starter assets

Return to Gyndore and select Mint Assets. Confirm the transaction and wait for it to be included on Base Sepolia.

According to Gyndore’s official testnet guide, one starter mint currently provides:

  • 1 test cbBTC
  • 50,000 test USDC
  • 25,000 test GYND
  • 1,000 test bGYND
  • A starter balance of supported community test tokens

Each address can use the starter faucet once every 24 hours. After minting, the interface should show the remaining cooldown.

These numbers are intentionally large because they are for testing. They are not rewards, do not represent a real portfolio and cannot be redeemed for mainnet assets.

Step 5: Make your first swap

Open Swap from the navigation menu.

  1. Select the asset under You pay.
  2. Select the asset under You receive.
  3. Enter a small amount.
  4. Review the estimated output, route and price impact.
  5. Approve the input token if required.
  6. Confirm the swap transaction.

Token approvals and swaps are usually separate transactions. Wait for the approval to confirm before assuming the swap has failed.

Use the settings menu to inspect slippage. Test swaps in both directions and try different amounts. If no quote appears, the selected pool may not have enough active liquidity.

When testing a community asset, verify its contract address through the token selector and Base Sepolia explorer. A familiar ticker is not sufficient proof that a token is genuine.

Step 6: Add concentrated liquidity

Open Pools to view active markets. The page can display testnet TVL, recent volume, fees and an estimated APR. These are experimental values rather than a mainnet performance forecast.

Select an existing pool for the easiest first test. Then:

  1. Choose a price range using a preset or custom limits.
  2. Enter the amount of one token.
  3. Review the required amount of the paired token.
  4. Check the position’s token split and estimated APR.
  5. Approve both tokens when requested.
  6. Confirm the liquidity transaction.

Gyndore uses concentrated liquidity. A position earns swap fees only while the market price stays inside its chosen range. A narrow range can concentrate capital closer to the current price, but it can also become inactive sooner. A full range is simpler for a first test. After adding liquidity, open the pool details and verify the fee tier, contract addresses, volume, liquidity and Base Sepolia transaction.

Can you create a new market?

Yes. The Pools section contains a Create Market option. Testers can choose two supported tokens and a fee tier of 0.01%, 0.05%, 0.3% or 1%.

Creating a market requires setting an initial price and supplying liquidity. A mistaken starting price can create confusing or distorted results, even on a testnet. Beginners should first add liquidity to an established pool.

Step 7: Test GYND or bGYND staking

Open GYND and select Earn. The page accepts test GYND or bGYND and shows the simulated APY, projected earnings, pool share and rewards.

  1. Select GYND or bGYND.
  2. Enter the test amount.
  3. Approve the token if necessary.
  4. Confirm the staking transaction.

Testnet staking rewards are paid in test USDC and accrue as blocks are produced. The interface also includes withdrawal and profit views, allowing users to test unstaking and claiming available rewards. The APY is simulated and may change sharply. It should not be interpreted as a promise or forecast of mainnet returns.

How does bGYND unbonding work?

The Unbond page currently tests a mechanism that converts bGYND into GYND at a one-to-one token ratio after a 24-hour cooldown.

The test flow charges 70% of GYND’s market price in USDC, burns the submitted bGYND and creates a pending request. Unbonding is available only while the displayed GYND price is above $0.10. The Active Unbonds panel shows when each request becomes claimable. All prices and payments in this test are simulated. The feature’s final mainnet economics may differ.

Step 8: Review everything in Portfolio

Open Portfolio after creating at least one position. It reads data from the connected wallet and combines:

  • Estimated testnet net worth
  • Blended yield across positions
  • Unclaimed fees and staking rewards
  • Liquidity positions and selected price ranges
  • Token composition and fee tiers
  • Claim buttons for available rewards

An in-range indicator means the liquidity position is currently eligible to earn swap fees. If a new position does not appear immediately, wait for transaction confirmation and reload the page. Confirm the transaction directly on Base Sepolia Basescan if necessary.

A useful complete test sequence

A first test run can follow this order:

  1. Connect a wallet and switch to Base Sepolia.
  2. Obtain test ETH for gas.
  3. Mint the starter assets.
  4. Swap a small amount in both directions.
  5. Add liquidity to an existing pool.
  6. Try a narrow range and compare it with a full-range position.
  7. Stake test GYND and bGYND.
  8. Withdraw part of the stake.
  9. Claim test USDC rewards when available.
  10. Start a bGYND unbond and inspect the cooldown.
  11. Reload the application and check whether balances and positions persist.
  12. Review everything in Portfolio.

Is DropWave part of the public testnet?

No. DropWave is linked from Gyndore’s navigation but is a separate programme hosted through the main application. It includes Chips, GynPoints, referrals and a leaderboard. Users do not need to join DropWave to complete the public testnet.

This distinction matters because the existence of DropWave points does not automatically mean every testnet action earns points or guarantees a future token allocation. Users should rely on explicit Gyndore announcements for reward eligibility.

Has Gyndore confirmed rewards for testnet participation?

The public testnet announcement invites users to test the product and submit feedback. The official walkthrough does not publish a guaranteed token reward, fixed points table or airdrop allocation for completing testnet transactions. Gyndore’s separate DropWave programme has its own points and Chips system, but it should not be confused with the public testnet. Test because you want to explore the product and help identify issues—not because a payout is assured.

Common problems and fixes

The wallet is on the wrong network

Switch to Base Sepolia and confirm chain ID 84532.

A transaction cannot be submitted

Check the Base Sepolia ETH balance and make sure any preceding token approval has confirmed.

Mint Assets is unavailable

The starter faucet has a 24-hour cooldown for each address. Check the countdown shown in the interface.

The wallet does not display the test tokens

Use Add to Wallet again or import the official contract addresses manually. The balances may still work inside Gyndore even if the wallet hides them.

The swap has no quote

Try a smaller amount or another pair. The market needs enough active liquidity to provide a usable quote.

The liquidity position is not earning fees

Check whether the current market price is inside the selected range. Out-of-range concentrated liquidity does not earn swap fees.

The position is missing from Portfolio

Wait for Base Sepolia confirmation, reload the page and inspect the transaction on the block explorer.

How to report a useful bug

A good report should include:

  • The page and feature used
  • Wallet application and version
  • Expected behaviour
  • What actually happened
  • Base Sepolia transaction hash
  • A screenshot with private information removed
  • Steps that reproduce the problem

Frequently asked questions

Does participating cost money?

The assets and Base Sepolia ETH are free test tokens. There should be no real transaction cost. Some faucets may impose eligibility checks, but users should not pay anyone for test ETH.

Can test cbBTC, USDC, GYND or bGYND be sold?

No. They exist only on Base Sepolia and have no real-world value. Ignore anyone offering to buy, exchange or bridge them to mainnet.

Is Gyndore mainnet live?

No. The public testnet is live, while the mainnet launch and liquidity bootstrapping event remain future milestones.

Does the testnet include borrowing against cbBTC?

Borrowing and gynUSD are central to Gyndore’s wider product design, but the current official public-testnet guide focuses on swaps, liquidity, staking, unbonding and Portfolio. Check the interface and later announcements for borrowing availability.

Which network does the testnet use?

How often can starter assets be minted?

Once every 24 hours for each wallet address under the current testnet rules.

Does completing the testnet guarantee an airdrop?
