Oppo and Vivo compete in the exact same segment of the market and it is very important for both the devices to proactively offer the best of technology for an acceptable price. Oppo F5 was launched a few months ago and came with a pretty good design that stood as a good competition to the Vivo V7 and the Vivo V7 Plus, Vivo has now launched the Vivo V9 and we now compare the Oppo F5 with the same to see if it still stands up to the competition offered by Vivo this year.

The Helio P23 is paired with the Mali-G71 MP2 GPU to offer better gaming performance, the Vivo V9, on the other hand, comes with the more preferred Qualcomm MSM8953-Pro Snapdragon 626 which is an Octa-core 2.2 GHz Cortex-A53 processor and is paired with an Adreno 506 GPU. The Vivo V9 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the Oppo F5 comes in two variants and the 32GB variant comes with 4GB RAM and the 64GB variant comes with 6GB RAM.
Both the device come with expandable storage via microSD card slot and support up to 256GB via a dedicated slot. Although a lot of users tend to incline towards the Snapdragon processor on the Vivo V9, the Mediatek Helio P23 processor on the Oppo F5 is very capable and can easily serve the purpose for almost all the day to day tasks.
The Vivo V9 comes with a dual camera setup with a 16 MP primary sensor along with a 5 MP secondary sensor. The aperture on the primary sensor is f/2.0 and it supports phase detection autofocus for faster and more accurate autofocus. Both the device come with similarly sized batteries, the Oppo F5 has a 3200mAh battery while the Vivo V9 comes with a 3260mAh battery which is slightly larger. This difference in the battery is compensated for with the difference in the screen sizes, the slightly larger 6.3-inch screen on the Vivo V9 combined with the 3260mAh battery is expected to give about the same battery life subject to the battery optimization in terms of software being offered by the companies.
Coming to the software, the Oppo F5 comes with ColorOS 3.2 which is based on Android 7.1 while the Vivo V9 comes with the Funtouch OS that is based on the newer Android 8.1 operating system.
