In the era of large display smartphones, things have started changing to make phones smaller and keep the display size similar. While we have seen foldable phones from a few brands, but Motorola has plans in its own way as the company has made the new RAZR official with a flexible display.
Calling it the “first-ever clamshell-style flexible display smartphone that, impossibly, folds completely, bringing an instantly familiar yet totally unique, mobile consumer experience.”, the company mentions that the phone is made with stainless steel and 3D gorilla glass on the exterior to keep it safe yet premium.
We architected an industry first, patent-protected zero-gap hinge that allows both sides of the customized polymer flexible display system to remain perfectly flush when closed and protects the display from debris and dust; we re-engineered antennas to fit in a space twice as small as today’s smartphones; and coated the device to offer water resistance and splash-proof protection.
It is a 6.2-inch Flex View display with 21:9 aspect ratio that folds into half and gives you a view on the outside with a 2.7-inch interactive qOLED Quick View display that has enough to give some functionality without having to always open the phone. The outer quick view display can help make calls, reply to messages, pay with a tap, control your music, take stunning selfies, use Google Assistant and access customized settings, like turning on or off Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, your Hotspot and more.
Internally, the phone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 platform that is paired with 6GB of RAM and a 2510mAh battery. A primary 16-megapixel f/1.7 camera helps in the photography on the back of the phone and if you have the phone open and want to take a selfie, a 5-megapixel camera is given as a part of the notch on the top. As expected, the phone has Android 9 Pie with the stock Android.
The chin on the bottom of the phone houses a fingerprint sensor and towards the bottom, there is a USB Type-C port that supports 15W fast charging of the battery. The dimensions of the Razr 2019 is 72x172x6.9mm in the unfolded state and 72x94x14mm in the folded state. It weighs 205 grams.
In the U.S., the new motorola razr will be available exclusively on Verizon with pre-order starting on December 26, 2019 for $62.49 a month for 24 months on Verizon Device Payment (0% APR; $1,499.99 USD MSRP).
