The Honor 10 from Huawei’s sub-brand Honor offers some great value for the price. The newly launched Vivo X21 too comes with some promising features and specifications. The Vivo X21 is the first smartphone in India to sport an in-display fingerprint scanner, while the Honor 10 comes with an under-the-glass fingerprint scanner. The two phones are priced under sub 40k price segment, with around 33k price tag for the Honor and a 36k price tag for the Vivo’s offering. But what differentiates the X21 from the Honor 10? Let us find out in a quick spec comparison.
Vivo X21 vs Honor 10
Design and Display
Both the Vivo X21 and the Honor 10 come with a glass-metal-glass sandwich design. Although both the phones come in rich colored glass-backs, the Vivo X21 stands nowhere close to the Honor 10’s color changing backs, which uses a 6 layer NCVM coating which produces such rich colors.
Thanks to the under display fingerprint scanner on the Vivo X21, the X21 has a slightly cleaner look, when compared against the Honor 10’s small fingerprint scanner which is crammed into the tiny chin underneath screen.
The Vivo X21 comes with a larger 6.28 inch Super AMOLED display, whereas the Honor 10 settles down for a smaller 5.84 inch IPS LCD display. Both the 19:9 displays have a resolution of 1080×2280 pixels, but the Honor 10 has a slightly higher pixel dense display. Thanks to the smaller screen size, the Honor 10 comes with 432 PPI dense screen, while the X21’s screen has a pixel density of 402 PPI.
Processor, RAM and Storage
When it comes to the processor, the two phones are poles apart, with the Vivo X21 opting for a Snapdragon 660 chipset, and the Honor 10 using the homegrown HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset.
Both the phones come with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage up to 256 GB via the Hybrid Nano SIM/microSD card slot.
The Vivo X21 comes with a 12 MP primary shooter with F/1.8 aperture and a 5 MP F/2.4 secondary depth sensing camera for better portrait shots. The Honor 10 takes a different route and comes with a 16 MP F/1.8 primary RGB camera and 24 MP monochrome secondary camera on the back.
To the front the Vivo X21 comes with 12 MP F/2.0 camera which is half the MegaPixel count as the Honor 10’s, which uses a 24 MP selfie shooter with F/2.0 aperture.
The Vivo X21 comes with a 3200 mAh non-removable battery, while the Honor 10 has a slightly higher 3400 mAh battery underneath. Both the phones have fast charge support, with 18W (9V 2A) fast charging support on the Vivo X21 and 22W (5V 4.5A) SuperCharge support on the Honor 10. Neither of the two phones have wireless charging support.
OS and Interface
Both the devices run on Android 8.1 Oreo with their own custom UI’s on top. The Vivo X21 uses Funtouch 4.0 OS, whereas the Honor 10 uses Huawei’s own EMUI 8.1 on top.
Although both the UIs are heavily customized to resemble iOS, the Honor’s EMUI at least comes with an option to add the app drawer.
The Vivo X21 is priced at INR 35,990 whereas the Honor 10 retails for INR 32,999 and are sold exclusively on Flipkart and their respective official web-stores.
