For this list, a tool belongs to the country where its developer or parent company is headquartered. That is a useful shorthand, but it is not the whole story. AI companies employ international teams, rent cloud infrastructure across borders and train models using chips and data from global supply chains.
Google DeepMind is the clearest example. DeepMind was founded in London, but Gemini is a Google product and Google is headquartered in the United States. We therefore list Gemini under the US while noting its British research roots.

The first two rows dominate the worldwide consumer conversation. The other entries remain important because many governments and businesses want models that support local languages, comply with domestic rules or can run inside national infrastructure.
