Gionee A1 and A1+ selfie-focused phones announced at MWC 2017

Gionee has announced a new lineup and two new smartphones in it at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. Named as the Gionee A1 and A1 Plus (A1+), the smartphones have good selfie cameras and the A1 Plus has a dual-lens camera setup on the back.

William Lu, President of Gionee, said at the launch event: “We have noticed that more and more people are regarding selfies as an expression of themselves and they tend to share their photos through various social channels whenever and wherever they are. As a consumer-oriented smartphone manufacturer, we hope to set up the evolution of the selfie experience and provide the best portfolio at the best price.”

Both the phones have Waves MaxxAudio processing, for which the company has collaborated with Waves Audio. Gionee is offering 18W ultrafast charging support and dual charging chips, and thanks to that, it is claimed that the phones can get fully charged in about two hours.

Gionee A1

Gionee A1 GrayThe lesser-powerful Gionee A1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and it is powered by the MediaTek Helio P10 processor (MT6755). The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat OS with the Amigo OS interface layered over it. The phone has 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage, and the Dual SIM phone supports MicroSD card for storage expansion.

There is a 13-megapixel rear camera with F/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, 1/3.06-inch sensor, and autofocus, while on the front there is a 16-megapixel camera with fixed focus, F/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and there is a selfie flash supporting the camera in low light. The Gionee A1 has a 4010 mAh battery, and the phone is going to be available in gray, black, and gold color options.

Gionee A1 Plus (A1+)

The larger A1+ from Gionee has a 6-inch Full HD in-cell display and the device is powered by the MediaTek Helio P25 processor along with 4GB of RAM, while the device has 64GB internal storage and a MicroSD card slot helps in storage expansion. The phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat and Amigo OS interface.

As for the cameras, the Gionee A1+ has a dual-lens rear camera combination of 13MP + 5MP cameras while on the front, there is a 20-megapixel selfie camera with F/2.0 aperture and selfie flash support. The Dual SIM phone has a 4550 mAh battery, and it will be available in gray and mocha gold options.

Gionee A1 and A1 Plus Price and Availability

The Gionee A1 and A1 Plus will be available for 349 Euro and 499 Euro respectively starting March 2017 and April 2017.
