ASUS 6z with Snapdragon 855, Flip camera and 5000 mAh battery launched in India

The ASUS ZenFone 6 (ZS630KL) had to get renamed to ASUS 6z as the ZenFone branding cannot be now used by the company to sell phones in India due to a legal battle the company is facing from Telecare Network. The phone is now officially launched in India and it is the next flagship, succeeding the ZenFone 5z and having flagship specs and a flip camera on the top.

The ASUS 6z comes with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ display with the screen resolution of 2340×1080 pixels, and the display is covered with the Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection and it has a brightness of 600 nits. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 mobile platform with the Adreno 640 GPU. There are variants with 6GB and 8GB of RAM and the device runs Android 9 Pie ASUS ZenUI 6 and not the stock Android that the mid-range phones from the company have.

The 6z has a flip camera on the top that usually sits there to work as a rear camera setup but when you turn the selfie mode on, the camera flips from the top to present the same sensors to take selfies as well. It is the primary 48-megapixel camera with Sony IMX586 sensor and along with that, there is also a 13-megapixel 125-degree wide angle lens for landscape shots or wide selfies. The primary camera has an F/1.8 aperture and there is Phase detection autofocus as well as laser autofocus. The camera is capable of recording 4K videos at 60 fps and there is EIS support for video.

The phone has Dual 5-magnet speakers with dual NXP TFA9874 smart amplifiers, and there are two internal microphones with ASUS Noise reduction technology. The ASUS 6z also has the dedicated MicroSD card slot for the storage expansion alongside the two SIM card slots offering dual VoLTE. For the security options, there is a fingerprint scanner on the back and also the face recognition that uses the flip camera. For the other connectivity options, there is dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS, and Wi-Fi direct too.

One of the big features for the phone over the others is the 5000 mAh battery that is powering the device, and it supports Quick Charge 4.0 with the 18W charger offered in the box itself. For most of the flagship phones, battery life is one major concern and that is the reason why ASUS chose to offer a high-capacity battery.
