Samsung Galaxy S7 & S7 Edge Android Nougat update rolling out

The Samsung flagships of 2016, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge have started receiving the official Android Nougat update. The beta testing of the update had started back in November 2016, and the date for official update was said to be 17th Jan. but it is rolling out a few days ahead of it, as an over-the-air update.

Though, if you had been running one of the test versions of the update, then the phone will be getting an update with size of about 215MB, which will replace it with the official version of the Nougat ROM. Along with the update, the security patch for Jan 2017 is also included for the devices.

In the update change log, you can notice the new features in the Nougat update of Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

  • Update to Android Nougat version
  • Several UX and performance fixes
  • Improvement to notifications
  • Multi-window mode
  • Always-on display
  • Enhancements to the system upgrade and app installation process

This might be a phased rollout where not every region might get the update at the same time, but if you are in a hurry, you can check which region is the first to get it and then use a VPN to change your location to that one, and then check for any available updates. If you are in India, you might see the update available for your Galaxy S7 or S7 Edge on January 17th, the date that was given earlier by the company.
