Withings Thermo with 16 Sensors records temperature on your smartphone

With all health related gadgets connected to your smartphones to keep track of your health, why leave body temperature out is what Withings has thought. They have come out with a Thermometer which has 16 infrared sensors which locate and measure the IR signature from the Temporal artery. You heard it right this thermometer does not need you to stick it under your tongue, you have to place it on your Temple region.

Once the green cup is placed near the temporal region,  the 16 sensors using infrared takes just 4,000 micro-measurements a second for instant reading. The temperature will be displayed on the big LED screen present on its body which shows the numbers in different colors based on the temperature.

Once the readings are obtained it connects via Wi-Fi to your smartphone and is capable of storing multiple user readings, this helps you in keeping track of your family members temperature readings. It will sync the data with a phone app automatically. It is powered by a two AAA batteries which will last for two years according to Withings.

The Thermo is a Class IIa medical device appropriate filings for FDA-Cleared status in the US and CE Medical Approved status in the EU, according to Withings’ press release. Thermo will be available in first quarter of 2016 which will cost $100, the availability of the device has not been confirmed yet, you can check it out at CES 2016. It is surely a great addition to medical tech helping users to keep track of body temperature in an easy way.
