Xiaomi Mi Band 3 with 0.78-inch OLED display launched

Xiaomi has launched a plethora of products today, including a new smart band, Xiaomi Mi Band 3. The Mi Band 3 is a successor to the popular Mi Band 2, which was launched way back in June 2016.

The Mi Band 3 comes with a 0.78 inch OLED panel that comes with resolution of 128×80 pixels. The display is covered under a scratch resistant glass which has an anti-fingerprint coating.

The Band 3 lets users track various activities such as steps, heart rate, sleep and distance. There’s also Sedentary reminders to alert users if they’ve been siting for a long period of time. The new band is said to provide more accurate and improved tracking results than the outgoing model.

Along with usual time and activity data, the band can also show call, SMS and WhatsApp notifications on your wrist. Users can also answer calls using the Mi Band 3.

The Mi Band 3 comes with Bluetooth 4.2 LE using which it connects to your smartphone, to transfer the workout and activity data to your phone. There’s also a variant of the Band 3 which comes with NFC. The NFC enabled Mi Band 3 can be used to make payments.

The Mi Band 3 is water resistant up to 5 ATM, allowing users to dive into depths up to 50 meters with the band strapped on. The band is powered by a 110 mAh Li-Po battery, which the company claims to last up 20 days on standby. The band including the strap weighs 20 gms while the device alone weighs just 8.5 gms.

Pricing and Availability of Xiaomi Mi Band 3

The Xiaomi Mi Band 3 is priced at CNY 169 (USD 26/ INR 1764) for the standard variant, which will be available in China, from June 5. While the NFC variant would cost you CNY 199 (USD 31/ INR 2077) and will be available in September, 2018. The availability of the band in other markets is still unknown.
