No roaming charge for Incoming calls on Airtel from April 2017

Airtel; one the leading telecoms in India today has announced that it has removed the charge for incoming calls while roaming for all its users in India from April. Airtel users can now take incoming calls without recharging with any special packs while roaming anywhere in India.

The company has already introduced affordable international roaming packages for all the major countries across the globe, and they come with a validity of 1, 10, and 30 days. These packages offer benefits such as free incoming calls/SMS, calling minutes and texts both to India and the local country. Customers need to opt for these packs while planning on going for an international trip to prevent excessive bill shocks, however, April 1, 2017, even customers on international roaming without a Pack will be fully protected from bill shocks. As it will be automatically adjusted to one day of that particular country.

Even after the exhaustion of pack benefits, customers will continue to enjoy attractive rates for calling and data usage. The Call Charges have been reduced to as low as Rs.3/m which is 90% low and data charges by upto 99% to Rs 3/ MB across many attractive roaming destinations.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, Chairman, Bharti Airtel said:

At Airtel, we are changing the international roaming paradigm, which will allow our customers to take their number to every corner of the world. As an industry, operators across the world must collaborate to remove the cost barrier to roaming and offer customers the convenience of staying connected without the fear of exorbitant bill charges.
