Reliance Jio Fiber-based DTH service likely to launch in December

The latest 4G entry in India is Jio; which is a sub-brand of Reliance. With the launch of Jio, Ambani made sure he is offering everything at cheap, and he succeeded in doing that to a certain extent as Jio 4G services still need some polishing in their services. Now that Jio has gained enough branding even before it’s official launch, Reliance is gearing up to disrupt yet another segment very soon.

Reliance Jio Infocomm may soon start the optical fiber-backed direct-to-home(DTH) TV services in India and to shatter the existing DTH-based companies, Gizbot reports that Reliance is planning to offer the service free of cost to subscribers for the first six months. Once the free period ends the plans start at just Rs.185 per month which is quite less when compared to others that are in the market.

Indian Express reports that Jio will be offering a device that will work as a Setup box as well as an Android smart box or Apple TV giving customers full control over the content and also play games. Just like Jio 4G Welcome offer, the Jio DTH will come bundled with high-speed internet along Jio digital services. Jio DTH services will be called as JioTV has will have over 360 channels in which at least 50 channels will be in HD and will come with the seven-day catch-up option.

Reliance is currently testing the high-speed fiber Internet services in metro cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai and will slowly expand to other markets, enterprise locations and will offer the high-speed multi-gigabit per second enterprise-grade wireline data connections very soon.
