Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro offers advanced fitness tracking, 5ATM water resistance

While announcing the Samsung Galaxy Note8, the South Korean electronics giant Samsung has also made its new smart fitness band official. Coming as the successor (or rather as the Pro version to the Gear Fit 2), the Gear Fit 2 Pro has the 5 ATM (which is about 5 atmospheres of overpressure, translating to about 130-150 feet).

The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro has built-in GPS, Pedometer, Heart rate sensor, and Bluetooth connectivity for connections with smartphones. Samsung mentions that there are ways to keep a track of your fitness.

  • UA Record to check your activity, sleep, and workout stats in one dashboard, and get insights into your health and fitness levels.
  • MayMyRun to plan and track your routes with real-time maps and capture every run, ride, and walk.
  • MyFitnessPal to eat smarter and achieve your health goals by keeping track of the calories you consume and burn.
  • Endomondo to join a global community of fitness enthusiasts as you reach your running goals with personal training plans.

One of the advantages of having this new standard of water resistance is the advanced fitness tracking, including tracking your swimming activity, which can be done through the new Speedo app that is included.

The Gear Fit 2 Pro has more than 3,000 apps and watch faces to choose from and you can customize the watch with the apps available on the Galaxy app store.

Samsung promises a 3-4 day battery life with the 200 mAh battery and the band weighs only 34 grams, keeping itself light on your wrist. The bunch of sensors that the Gear Fit 2 Pro has include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, and the Heart Rate Sensor. The Gear Fit 2 Pro runs the Tizen OS just like its predecessor and the top has a 1.5-inch Curved Super AMOLED display with the 216 x 432 pixels resolution.

According to Evan Blass (@evleaks on Twitter), the Gear Fit 2 Pro will cost $199 and it will be available in Black and Red variants.
