Samsung Smart Glow could be an alternative to Notification LED

A notification LED light is a common occurrence in a phone and it does help in letting the user know about a pending notification that has to be checked. The same LED light also lets the user check if the phone is charging correctly. Samsung, one of the largest electronics brand is now working to change the way notification LED works.

A leaked user manual from the company shows that they are planning to have a ring-type LED indicator on the back of their smartphones. Samsung clearly mentions this as an alternative to the Notification LED. Users can configure the Smart Glow to display the priority notification with certain colors, and also set colors based on the notification type – call, e-mail, text message, etc.

That’s what the current notification lights have been doing, but now, one can double the Smart Glow as a flashlight whenever required. Selfie assist would be another feature of Smart Glow – Position the device so that the rear camera is aimed at the face and when the face is detected, the device beeps and Smart Glow flashes a Blue color, and then a picture is taken after two seconds.

Another function of this LED light will be of reminding whenever the phone’s battery is low. There are quite a few features that you usually won’t find on the standard little notification LED light, so this seems like a neat addition to smartphones if Samsung decides to include it in the coming devices. There are rumors that it might be in the next Galaxy J device where we could see this, though we’ll have to play the Wait & Watch game for now.
