Weeks after the launch in Spain, Xiaomi has finally brought the second iteration of the Mi A1, the Xiaomi Mi A2, to India, today. The smartphone is part of the Android One program, meaning the phone is set to receive timely updates from Google. The Mi A2 comes with beefy internals and upgraded cameras, from its predecessor.

Display
The Xiaomi Mi A2 sports a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a 1080×2160p resolution. The display has an 18:9 aspect ratio and a pixel density of 403 PPI.
Processor, RAM & Storage
Underneath the hood, the Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with the powerful Snapdragon 660 chipset which uses custom Kryo cores, while Adreno 512 GPU handles the graphics. It comes with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 32 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB of internal storage. Sadly there’s no option for storage expansion. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
Cameras
In the camera department, the Xiaomi Mi A2 comes with dual rear cameras of which, the primary snapper uses a 12 MP unit and the secondary camera is a 20 MP shooter. While both the primary 12 MP camera and the secondary 20 MP camera have the same f/1.8 aperture, the 12 MP sensor has a pixel size of 1.25um, and the 20 MP sensor has 1.0um pixel size. The sensor size of the 12 MP and 20 MP cameras are 1/2.9″ and 1/2.8″, respectively. The rear-facing camera can shoot videos at a maximum resolution of 2160p at 30 fps, while EIS is available only for 1080p videos shot at 30 fps.
To the front, the phone comes with a 20 MP selfie snapper which has a sensor size of 1/2.8″ and 1.0um pixel size, that sits behind a f/2.2 lens. The front-facing camera can record videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p at 30 fps.
Miscellaneous
The Xiaomi Mi A2 packs in a 3000 mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 4.0+ for quick top-ups, through the Type-C port. For connectivity, the phone comes with Dual SIM with Dual 4G VoLTE, Dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS.
On the audio end, Xiaomi has omitted the 3.5 mm headphone jack and instead bundles a 3.5mm to Type C adapter with the smartphone. For security, the phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as Face Unlock. The phone weighs 166 gms and is 7.3 mm thick.
Pricing and Availability of Xiaomi Mi A2
The Xiaomi Mi A2 comes in five color options – Black, Blue, Gold, Red, and Rose Gold. The pricing of the phone starts from INR 16,999 and will be available for purchase on Amazon India, starting August 16th. The pre-orders begin from 12 noon on Mi.com, Amazon.in and Mi Home.
