Xiaomi Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 with 5.45-inch HD+ displays launched in India

Alongside the Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi has also announced two other 6-series Redmi phones, the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and the Xiaomi Redmi 6A. The Xiaomi Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6A replace the outgoing Redmi 5 and Redmi 5A models.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A too sports a similar 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD with a resolution of 720×1140 pixels. The screen has an 18:9 aspect ratio. The new MediaTek Helio A22 SOC powers the smartphone. It comes in 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage, expandable up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 on top, upgradable to MIUI 10 when available.

For the cameras, the Redmi 6A features a single 13 MP unit which has Phase Detection Autofocus and a f/2.2 aperture. The rear-facing camera offers AI portrait mode. To the front, the phone comes with a 5 MP selfie camera with a f/2.2 lens attached on top.

The Redmi 6 Pro packs in a 3000 mAh battery. For connectivity, the phone includes Dual 4G VoLTE, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, and GLONASS. To securely unlock your phone, the phone offers AI face unlock, with raise to wake function.

Pricing and Availability of the Xiaomi Redmi 6A

The Xiaomi Redmi 6A comes in Black, Blue, Gold and Rose Gold colors. As an introductory offer, the phone is priced at INR 5,999 for the 2 GB RAM variant and INR 6,999 3 GB RAM variant. The phone will be available on Amazon India and Mi.com starting September 19, 2018.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 features a 5.45-inch IPS LCD with an HD+ resolution which is 720×1440 pixels. Powering the smartphone is a MediaTek Helio P22 chipset with PowerVR GE 8320 GPU. It comes two RAM and storage options – 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage and 3 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage. The phone also offers a microSD card slot which can take up to 256 GB microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9.6 on top, upgradable to MIUI 10 when available.

For imaging, the Redmi 6 comes with dual rear cameras. The rear features a 12 MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.25um pixels, while the second camera is a 5 MP shooter with 1.12 um pixels and a similar f/2.2 aperture. The primary camera has Phase Detection Autofocus whole the secondary 5 MP camera captures depth information for portraits. To the front, the phone has a 5 MP selfie camera.

Fueling the Redmi 6 is a 3000 mAh battery, which charges via micro USB port. The phone supports Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, GLONASS. The phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well as AI face unlock.

Pricing and Availability of Xiaomi Redmi 6

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 comes in Black, Blue, Gold and Rose Gold colors. As an introductory offer, the phone is priced at INR 7,999 for the 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage variant and 9,499 for the 3 GB RAM with 64 GB storage option. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart and Mi.com starting September 10, 2018, and later will be available at Mi Homes and other offline partners. HDFC is offering INR 500 off on purchasing the smartphone through EMI using HDFC Debit and Credit cards.

Note: The introductory pricing on the Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6 Pro will last till a couple of months, and Xiaomi may increase the device’s prices if the Rupee value depreciates against the American Dollar.

  1. My eyes was on 6A and was hoping that after 2 gen maybe this time they’ll give FPS But the device disappointed me not only coz of missing FPS but the RAM option (like 2gb16gb & 2gb32gb). Now why is 2gb RAM’s there with 32gb. And For sure the device gonna need more RAM to handle that Bloated #MIUI. Anyway, lets see. #GizmoArmy @gizmotimestech @chetanbhawani
