Huawei P10 and P10 Plus with Dual rear cameras announced at MWC 2017

Huawei has introduced the P10 and P10 Plus smartphones at the MWC 2017 event. The Huawei P10 series is the successor to the last year’s P9 series and has the same Leica powered dual rear cameras. This time around, we also get the Plus variant of the P10; the P10 Plus that comes with a bigger display and a curved screen, while the regular P10 has a flat screen 5.1-inch display just like its predecessor; the P9.

The Huawei P9 was an excellent phone with a lot to offer in the camera department. Huawei has considered to retain what’s good (with little changes) and bring out changes in the other aspects while launching the successor to it. The partnership with Leica stays but the company has brought about some changes to the exterior of the phone. Sandblast finish, a new process for making the phone and the Graphite Black variant that was introduced with the Huawei P8 is being brought back with the P10. There are a bunch of color options going to be available here, including rose gold, and mystic silver. According to Huawei, it is the Hyper Diamond-Cut Finishing that is done on the P10 and P10 Plus, that leads to tactile touch experience with brilliant light reflections. The phones have Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and the display has 2.5D glass.

The Huawei P10 Specifications:

The Huawei P10 sports a 5.1-inch Full HD (1920 X 1080p) 2.5D curved glass display and is powered by the Huawei’s homegrown Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor with Mali G71 Octa-core GPU. It packs 4GB RAM and 64GB storage and a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Emotion UI 5.1 right out of the box.

In the camera department, the P10 features a 20-megapixel (Monochrome) + 12MP (RGB) Dual rear cameras from Leica with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, Laser AF, OIS. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 aperture. It rocks a Fingerprint sensor for extra device security. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz/5GHz), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC. A 3,100 mAh battery with fast charging is on board. It packs a 3,200 mAh battery with fast charging support named Huawei Super Charge.

The Huawei P10 Plus that sports a bigger 5.5-inches Quad HD AMOLED dual curved display and is powered by the same Kirin 960 Octa-Core processor with Mali G71 Octa-core GPU. It has two variants, one with 4GB and other with 6GB RAM with 64GB and 128GB storage respectively. There is a microSD card slot for memory expansion up to 256GB. The P10 Plus also runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

In the camera department, just like the P10, the Plus variant also features dual rear camera courtesy of Leica. There is a combination of 20-megapixel (Monochrome) + 12MP (RGB) Dual rear cameras from Leica with f/2.0 aperture, dual-tone LED flash, Laser AF, OIS. On the front, it has an 8-megapixel shooter with f/1.9 aperture. Fingerprint sensor comes embedded into the home button up front. A bigger 3,750mAh battery with fast charging support.

The phone is going to be available from March 2017 in Australia, Austria, Chile, China, Columbia, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, United Kingdom, and Vietnam.

The pricing is as follows.

  • €650 for Huawei P10 (64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM)
  • €700 for Huawei P10 Plus (64 GB storage with 4 GB RAM)
  • €800 for Huawei P10 Plus (128 GB storage with 4 GB RAM)
