After multiple leaks and rumors, Lenovo has finally launched its latest smartphone, the Lenovo Z5, in China. Although the leaks and rumors suggested the phone sports a bezel-less front, the phone was nowhere close to it. Instead, it comes with a notched display with thin chin at the bottom and a 19:9 aspect ratio.
The Z5 sports a 19:9 FHD+ display that is spread across 6.2-inches with a resolution of 2246×1080 pixels. The display is protected under Corning Gorilla Glass and has a maximum brightness of 500 nits. It has a 1500:1 contrast ratio and DCi-P3 color support. The phone is powered by an Octa-core Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 GPU. It comes with 6 GB RAM and either 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with the relaunched ZUI 3.9 UI.
The Z5 features a vertically mounted dual camera setup which uses a 16 MP primary camera with an f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 8 MP depth sensing camera, alongside the LED flash. The rear cameras come with AI support for better portrait shots. There’s an 8 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front. The front facing camera offers AI Beautification.
The Lenovo Z5 packs in a 3300 mAh battery which supports fast charging. For security, the phone has a rear mounted fingerprint sensor and also has support for face unlock. The phone has support for 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, Dual band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, GPS and GLONASS. It comes with a USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing and a 3.5 mm audio jack.
Pricing and Availability of the Lenovo Z5
The Lenovo Z5 comes in three colors – Black, Indigo Blue and Aurora Blue. The phone is priced at CNY 1299 (USD 203/ INR 13620) for the 64 GB Black variant, while the Aurora Blue and Indigo Blue 64 GB variants are priced at CNY 1399 (USD 218/ INR 14668). The 128 GB variant is priced at CNY 1799 (USD 281/ INR 18862). The phones are available in China for pre-order and will go on sale on June 12, 2018.
