After a three-month wait, LG has finally brought the G7 ThinQ dubbed as LG G7+ ThinQ, to India, today. The flagship smartphone from their G-series comes with a notched display, which is first for LG.

The company calls the notched area as the “new Second screen”, a feature that was exclusive to the V-series phones for two generations, before LG ditched the idea, entirely. The company has also included a ThinQ button on the left side as well as moved the power button to the right, while the fingerprint scanner still stays on the back.

Display

The LG G7+ ThinQ sports a weird 19.5:9 IPS LCD screen spread across 6.1 inches. The display uses a new M+ panel that has an RGBW pixel arrangement, allowing the screen to provide 1000 nits of maximum brightness and improved contrast. A Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the notched Full Vision 3120x1440p display from potential scratches and drops. Additionally, the screen also covers 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and is HDR 10 & Dolby Vision ready.

Processor, RAM & OS

Powering the LG G7+ ThinQ is the beefy Snapdragon 845 chipset, while the Adreno 630 GPU handles the graphics. It comes with 6 GB RAM/ 128 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 400 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on LG’s AI Pack 2.0 UI based on Android 8.0 Oreo. Additionally, the company has also promised to deliver the Android P update once Google releases the final version.

To the front, we get an 8 MP F/1.9 shooter for selfies that is housed in the notch.

The rear camera can record videos up to a maximum of 2160p 4K HDR videos, along with 24-bit/192 kHz stereo sound recording, whereas the front camera maxes out at 1080p. The camera’s AI tech can determine various scenes such as trees, sky, pets, human & many more and set the mode accordingly.
