Smartron officially launched in India, priced from Rs. 12999

Smartron has launched its new smartphone dedicated for the fans of the company’s investor and brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar. Named as the, the smartphone, according to the person himself, is to bring him closer to his fans in the second innings of his life after taking retirement from the cricket career.

The will have a few backplates to choose from and these will have Sachin Tendulkar’s chosen pictures printed. It is a plastic back and even though it is removable, it gives access to the slots for SIM cards but you cannot pull out the battery from the device. As for the specs, the Smartron has a 5.5-inch Full HD display, and internally, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor powers it along with 3GB / 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage (of which, about 58GB is available to the user).

The device has a fingerprint sensor on the back and the speaker grill is located on the bottom. On the front, there are backlit dots representing the navigation buttons below the display, and on the top, the 5MP selfie camera, earpiece and the sensors are adjacent to each other. The phone has a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. The Smartron runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat OS with some of the taste of TronX included as well. Google Assistant is already running on it.

A 3000 mAh battery powers the phone and it has support for Quick charging with the USB Type-C connectivity and the quick charger is included in the box. The phone is priced at Rs. 12999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs. 13999 for the 4GB RAM variant. The phone will be available exclusively on Flipkart and while the company says there won’t be offline sales anytime soon, the phone will be marketed both online and offline to reach a bigger number of people.
