BSNL to offer 3G Mobile Internet Data at Rs. 36 Per GB

In what looks like a counter move to challenge Reliance Jio, BSNL has slashed their 3G Internet mobile data rates by 3/4th. 1GB 3G mobile data now costs a mere Rs. 36 in India under a special pack. BSNL has decided to slash the 3G rates to cope up with the Reliance Jio’s Happy New Year plan through which users are currently enjoying 1GB 4G data post which the speed reduces to 128kbps.

BSNL decided to offer up to four times extra data on existing data STVs (special tariff vouchers) that are currently available in the market. Under the Rs.291 plan, users now get 8GB data with 28 days validity instead of earlier’s 2GB. Under the 78 plan, users will be able to enjoy double data at 2GB. With these offers, BSNL becomes the first mobile operator in Industry to provide the most affordable mobile data.

Reliance Jio is currently the largest in the Industry with 52.23 million broadband customers in just three months of its commercial launch. On the other hand, BSNL still leads the broadband market in fixed line services segment with 9.95 million customers.

BSNL Board Director for Consumer Mobility RK Mittal on this occasion said, “We are committed to providing affordable mobile services for all segments of the prepaid mobile customers. These offers will be valid from February 6, 2017, on Pan India basis.”
