Two brand new Google Smartwatches are tipped to launch early next year. Internally known as Angelfish and Swordfish, the pair has been present in numerous leaks and rumours for quite some time now. The upcoming wearables will run the latest Android Wear 2.0 operating system and are expected to be unveiled within Q1 2017.

So far, we know that Google will launch two different sized smartwatches. Both of them will come with similar design language and metallic construction. Swordfish will be the smaller one and Angelfish will be the bigger. The former will feature a 42 mm circular dial and about 10.6 mm thickness. This will sport trimmed down functionality and shall be void of GPS and cellular network support. The Swordfish will have a substantially lower price tag, though.
On the other hand, the Angelfish smartwatch will come with a slightly larger 44 mm round display with a thickness similar to its sibling. This is presumed to be flagship variant with built-in GPS and mobile network support. You will probably be able to slide a SIM card directly into the Angelfish, and it shall function as an independent device with full 4G LTE support. This is expected to cost much higher than the Swordfish.
Similar to the recently launched Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones, Google Assistant will be deeply integrated with the upcoming wearables. They are also presumed to come with a heart rate monitor along with general fitness tracking sensors. The displays of the smartwatches will possibly be AMOLED panels and sport the intuitive user interface of Android Wear 2.0.
Swordfish and Angelfish will be the long sought rivals of the Apple Watch Series. Till now, we don’t know anything regarding the price structure of the smartwatches, but we presume Google will make them close to their rivals.
