List of Best & Interesting Features of the Samsung Galaxy Note7

Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone with a beautiful 5.7-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display and the quite famous Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage.

The device cannot be called a “just another” one in the lot because Samsung has made sure that the features included stand out and make the phone look kind of interesting and attractive, not just with the looks but with the functionality as well.

IP68 – Water and Dust Resistance

Samsung had the water resistance feature in the Galaxy S5, which was a very good feature. The company then removed the feature in the Galaxy S6 in 2015, inviting some criticism. Finally, we see the IP68 certification back on the Galaxy Note7.

What more? The display, this time, supports the S Pen even under water. So, if it is actually under water, or a wet phone, the S Pen would work flawlessly.

Iris Scanner

The inclusion of an Iris scanner is something new and very rare right now in the smartphone market, and even though it is quite limited when it comes to features, the Iris scanner on the Samsung Galaxy Note7 helps unlock the screen and even in authorizing payments.

This adds up as a security feature, which is always good. There’s a Secure Folder as well where you can have some hidden photos stored, and opening that would require scanning your Iris.

The improved S Pen features

The Air command has features like Create Note, Smart Select, Screen Write, and few other shortcuts that can be selected from, and the Smart Select feature now lets you record and magnify on the content.

There’s also a new Translate feature that would give you a new option to translate text when the S Pen hovers over a text content that is not seen with the primary language. Also, a magnify feature is seen to magnify any part of the content on the screen, with options from 150% to 300%.

Always On Display

This feature not only enhances the user experience, it is something productive as well. The Always On display has the clock widget and third party notifications shown when you aren’t using the phone and the brightness of it changes according to the conditions around.

The screen off memo feature lets you scribble using the S Pen even when the screen is turned off. There are shortcuts for music control and even a picture can be set to show on the Always On display. It is said to be consuming lesser power than what a normal display would do.

USB Type-C, Charging options

Though one would not call the inclusion of USB Type-C connectivity as an innovation or great addition, but keeping up with the trend is very important and USB Type-C has its own advantages. Also, having a fast charging feature is also a good one, but Samsung takes it ahead by offering fast wireless charging as well.

Having a wireless charging is quite common for Samsung Galaxy Note series, but given how the competitor brands are offering quick charging features, it is good to see that Samsung is offering fast charging when the phone is lying on the charging dock.

GIF creation using S Pen

The use of S Pen for creating GIFs is one of the best implementations done by the company. You just need to select a section of the video that you want to create, and it can be of any size. You get to select what quality of video you want to save – Standard or high.

The GIFs get saved and you can share them right away. You really don’t need to have an app for that and this GIF feature works flawlessly, at least that’s what the demos show.

Gorilla Glass 5 Protection

Samsung has been focusing well on the screen protection as well as the protection of the back since the company adopted to a glass body with glass on both the sides of the device. This time, the company has gone ahead to be the first to use Corning’s new generation glass protection solution, the Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

The Gorilla Glass 5 is said to be about 1.8 times stronger than the Gorilla Glass 4 and it has an 80% survival rate for drops from a height of about 1.6-meters.

HDR display technology

Samsung has wisely chosen to stick to the 2K resolution for the display, instead of going to the pointless 4K display. But, apart from the standard Super AMOLED display, what else is here? It’s the HDR display technology that is being seen.

The video output quality is vastly improved with this, and according to the company, the HDR display offers a much better experience for the VR enthusiasts. Of course, just like any other supreme feature, you need to have some content to take advantage of it. Samsung is partnering with Amazon Prime Video to get some HDR content on board.

We’re limiting it here and you very well know that the list could be much longer, but let’s limit it to the best ones, which we have listed above. Excited about the Galaxy Note 7? Let us know if you are getting one!
