Nokia Body Scale and Nokia BPM+ blood pressure monitor launched

Back in February, we knew that Nokia bought Withings and the digital health products that were being sold earlier with the Withings branding will now have the name Nokia on them. Now, the new Nokia has come up with two products and a revamped app – Nokia Body Scale and Nokia BPM+ blood pressure monitor.

“We think we can emerge as a champion of this new market because we do have the right assets, both from the brand perspective and also from the portfolios we’re bringing in with Withings,” Cédric Hutchings, Nokia’s VP of Digital Health said.

The Nokia Body scale is a new addition to the lineup and it comes as a successor to the scale that was present with the Withings branding. The Nokia Body will retail for only $59.95 (£55) and that is the most affordable scale in the company’s lineup. But what does it offer? The Body Scale from Nokia helps only in tracking your weight and it has no other features. Along with that, though, is the BMI measurement and with the availability of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, you can sync the data with the app.

The other announced product is the Nokia BPM+ blood pressure monitor and while there was already one in the lineup, this new monitor is smaller and more portable. A hard plastic curve wraps itself around the arm and the cuff is made of a softer material. The company says that the BPM+ measures systolic and diastolic blood pressure and heart rate, and is both FDA-cleared and medical-CE-approved. The BPM+ will be available for $129.95 (£115).

Nokia isn’t only bringing about changes to the hardware side of the health products but the Health Mate app as well has a completely revamped design and interface with a minimalist approach. This new app will be working not just with the new health products but with the present lineup as well. The app will have five sections including Sleep Smarter, Better Body, Pregnancy Tracker, Healthier Heart and the Leaderboard.
