Google’s New social app for small groups to edit photos together

Though Google is actively working on improving Google’s Allo and Duo apps, it’s being reported that Google is also working on yet another social app for small groups to edit photos together and then organize them for future. This app is said to be an experiment like many other things that Google is currently working on. There is also news that Google is not hyping up the app and might introduce the app during I/O 2017 event in May just the way it did with Allo and Duo. However, there is no specific date set just yet.

Though when you put it as a social app, Google’s developers are not approaching to make yet another messaging app, an app that is collaborative where users have an option to create groups for sharing pictures and later, the group members would all be able to edit and tag the same pictures. Google is said to be working on computer vision expertise technology that is being currently used across services like YouTube, Google’s image search, and Google Photos. This will be able to identify objects in a photo to tag them and organize them and in the future, to help you edit and apply filters to the pictures.

Google is clearly lagging behind when it comes to social media and is still trying to get things right, and the current app sounds like an experiment of Google just to see what works and what does not. While Allo and Duo keep getting updates and grow bigger as the days pass. If you look closely this new Social app sounds a lot like Apple’s Clips app- that will be launched sometime in April. The new Apple’s clips app will let you edit videos and then share them on various social networks which clearly has the base idea of a Social app that Google is about to bring out.

Google’s Continous return to Social Media shows how desperate and determined the company is to compete with social media Giants like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat where the advertisements and attention are, and the Search engine is no longer the first choice for users to know stuff and also invest their money in advertising and also little entertainment. Let’s hope Google bounces back in the Social media game.
