UM Renegade Thor e-cruiser bike launched at Auto Expo 2018

UM Lohia Two Wheelers launched their all-new Renegade Thor Electric Cruiser at the Auto Expo 2018 along with the Renegade Duty S and the Renegade Duty Ace.

According to the UML CEO, Rajeev Mishra, the launch of Thor was to establish their technological advancement for the Indian market and also commented on how the Indian Market is opening to electric vehicles which explains the company’s decision to unveil Thor Renegade to take the first mover’s advantage.

Specifications

The Renegade Thor will be powered by an electric motor to produce 30 kW of peak power and 70Nm of torque. This electric cruiser also comes with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox unlike most other EV’s. The electric cruiser also has a hydraulic clutch and a liquid cooled motor. To increase the end-user convenience the company chose to add an additional reverse gear to help ease the maneuvering of the bike. The electric cruiser is expected to have a top speed of 180kmph.

Features

The electric cruiser is powered by batteries which are liquid cooled to keep them running even in adverse climatic conditions. The effective range per charge is 270 kilometers and the batteries support fast charging technology that can charge up the bike to 80% in just 40 minutes. The bike comes with Disc brakes on both the wheels as standard and also has ABS for both from and rear brakes. The front wheel is a 17-inch wheel while the rear wheel is a 15-inch wheel. The first 50 customers will be taken to Tuscany in Italy where the bike has its origin, the customers will receive their bikes there and it will then be shipped to India as a Completely Built Unit(CBU).

Pricing and Availablity

Currently, the Renegade Thor is priced at Rs 9.9 Lakh making it the costliest motorcycle by the manufacturer. The bookings open in April and deliveries are expected to begin by the end of this year. This is pertaining to the fact that the company is importing the bike as a CBU from Italy which is bound to higher import taxes. Fortunately, the prices are expected to come down to about Rs 4.9 Lakh by the end of this year when the company sets up local assembly for the Renegade thor.
