New Apple MacBook Pro leaked official images confirm OLED strip

Apple has accidentally leaked images of the upcoming MacBook Pro. The photographs are hidden inside the latest update of macOS Sierra. These official pictures clearly show the much-rumoured OLED strip in action. This touch-enabled display panel will probably be called as ‘Magic Toolbar’ and is seen sporting an integrated Touch ID sensor. The new Apple MacBook Pro shall most likely launch on October 27, 2016.

The freshly disclosed pictures give us the first look at one of the most anticipated notebooks of this year. The 2016 MacBook Pro bears Apple’s customary design language. It looks similar to the Retina MacBook with dual front facing speakers placed on either side of the keyboard. However, the most interesting revelation is the innovative OLED touch panel or Magic Toolbar. This new secondary strip of display sits right above the keyboard, replacing the hardware function keys.

At the extreme right of the Magic Toolbar, we can see the Touch ID fingerprint scanner incorporated into the power button. This probably comes equipped with Apple’s force touch technology. Although it perfectly blends with the OLED strip, it is actually a different component altogether. The brand new display strip of the new MacBook Pro will sport advanced features on the top of performing the job of the function keys.

As per various rumours and speculations, the Magic Toolbar shall be used to control different applications. You may pause or resume music, view clock, get system notifications, receive email or message alerts, etc. Apple may even add third party apps compatibility to the OLED strip. The leaked image shows the secondary mini screen displaying Apple Pay notifications. It is instructing a user to tap on the Touch ID sensor for final confirmation of a payment.

Looking at the divulged pictures, we cannot comment much about the thickness of the forthcoming MacBook Pro. However, the laptop sports a redesigned hinge which is purportedly done to make the device slimmer and lighter. The bezels around the main display have become narrower too. The hardware keys of the new MacBook Pro seem to a bit flatter further indicating a diminishing thickness.

New Apple MacBook Pro rumoured specifications

So far, we have some faint idea about specifications of the new MacBook Pro. Intel’s brand new Kaby Lake chips may power up the upcoming laptops. The graphics may be handled by some the latest generation 14 nm AMD Polaris GPUs. The 13-inch model of the 2016 MacBook Pro may get a QHD (2560 x 1440) screen, while a 4K (3840 x 2160) display may sit on top of the 15-inch variant.

Apple will reportedly discard the conventional USB ports off the forthcoming MacBook Pro. Instead, the new notebook shall get the brand new Type-C USB ports along with the usual Thunderbolt ones. The trackpad of the latest laptop is expected to support force touch technology.

The new MacBook Pro is set to be announced at Apple’s October 27 event to be held in Cupertino. The company may also surprise us with a fresh MacBook Air or even a ramped up iMac desktop.
