Honor 8: The new lookbook to smartphones

In every market or category, it is hard to keep innovating and bringing out something new all the time. How much ever you try, getting a purely new device with everything unmatched to others is hard, and why would one want a completely unique device when there are good enough phones with features that seem satisfactory for users?

One such smartphone in the recent time is the Honor 8 from Huawei. We give it a tag of “lookbook” for other smartphones, to get inspired by it. There’s more than one reason why we say that. To begin with, the dual-lens rear camera of the Honor 8 can take on the biggies, even with half the price. And then, it doesn’t stop there as the Honor 8 has several things deserving a praise.

The performance

Even though the chipset is what most of us look at, we tend to keep an eye on it so much that the optimization part gets ignored and you find smartphones having poor performance even with the same good processor you wanted in it. The Honor 8 is powered by the home-grown Kirin 950 chipset that is so well optimized to run the UI made specially for the Huawei phones. There is always a smooth performance seen and to be expected here.

The design

Glass bodies are a serious addiction these days. The smartphone makers have taken measures to ensure that they have an attractive and very comfortable device in the hands of the users, and glass body is one of the common measure used while doing that. Major flagships including the Samsung Galaxy S7 have a glass back, and to add to the glass back of Honor 8, it has a beautiful 2.5D front curved glass.

The core internals

How much is the RAM and storage in the phone? Is it a Full HD display that it has? These things usually come up in the mind of potential buyers, and the Honor 8 ticks all the right boxes with a good 4GB RAM capacity and 32GB of storage. Along with that, you can see a good 1080p display on the front that is bright and has great color output.

The dual-lens camera

This part is the most important one for the Honor 8, and the others complement it making the phone a perfect one. The dual-lens camera has two 12MP lenses, one with the RGB sensor and other with a monochrome sensor, to bring out the best natural pictures, that too with more light.

When you are out in the market to choose a smartphone, the common thing you would do is to check out how the camera is. You know it is one of the major factors, and the Honor 8 excels in this field.

Connectivity and sharing

The major difference between a dedicated camera, be that a digital camera or a DSLR camera and a smartphone is with the connectivity that they offer. With the camera of the Honor 8 doing so well, you are getting the super good plethora of connectivity options to easily share the captured pictures on the web and social media.

The battery life

Last, but not the least in this case, the battery life is another important feature that people look up to. A 3000 mAh battery in the Honor 8 lasts for a good 16 hours at ease and you can keep your screen active for about quarter of a day on a full charge, which is what smartphones have to do so that the users don’t have to run for the charger regularly.

With things being quite what you expect as a standard on the spec sheet, the Honor 8 does surely take the tag of a Lookbook for other smartphones in the making, isn’t it?
