Snuza launches Pico, a portable baby movement monitor at CES 2016

Snuza is a company that specializes in the development of baby monitors to keep track of your little ones. They have launched their latest device the Snuza Pico which joins Snuza Hero and Snuza Go devices by the company. These are the wearable tech for infants to make monitoring infants easier for mothers, fathers, and caretakers. The Snuza monitors can be attached to the baby’s diapers that monitor the baby’s movements and detects deflections of baby’s abdomen.

Snuza Pico is the latest product of the company that is said to decrease the false alarms that are caused by other similar devices that work on contact concept. The Pico, on the other hand, does not need any direct contact with the baby’s skin but can be attached to the baby’s diaper and will monitor abdominal movements with the contactless sensor. It is compact and is almost weightless at just 10z and are not harmful to your infants because of the harmless hypo-allergenic material used and medical grade plastics, they do not send or receive any radio frequency signals.

Parents and caretakers can connect with the Pico using Bluetooth LE from their smartphones via an App. This app lets them monitor and control Pico remotely within a 20 to 30-meter range. The device can be accessed through multiple devices, and it displays baby’s abdominal movement, skin temperature, sleeping position and whether there is any potential risk to your child and alerts you. To monitor the temperature the device uses a temperature sensor that does not need to be in contact with skin.

To keep track of the position, a sensor is used to determine the sleeping position to alert you if the baby sits up on their side, face-down or face-up. It comes with 1 week of battery backup before requiring to be charged. To charge your Pico, just place it in the carry case that has the power charger built-in.

The Snuza Pico has been launched in CES 2016. The device is recommended for infants in the age group 0-12 months. Along with the Pico, there were two other devices showcased at the event, Snuza Hero and Snuza Go, which are available in retail stores priced at $119.99 for Hero and $99.99 for the Snuza Go. The Snuza Pico will be available in retail stores from June 2016.
