Nokia X5 with 5.86-inch notched display, Helio P60 chipset goes official in China

After the successful launch of the Nokia X6, HMD Global, a Nokia brand licensee, has launched its latest mid-range offering in its X-series, the Nokia X5, today, in China. The company had earlier teased the launch of the phone through invites. The phone features a similar notched design as the previously launched X-series phone.

The Nokia X5 comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. A 2.5D curved glass covers the 19:9 notched display which has an 84% screen-to-body ratio. Powering the phone is the MediaTek Helio P60 chipset with Mali G72 MP2 GPU. It comes in two RAM and storage variants, 3 GB with 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card. The phone runs on Vanilla variant of Android 8.1 Oreo, upgradeable to Android P.

In the camera department, the X5 uses a dual camera setup on the back which comes with a 13 MP primary sensor that sits behind a f/2.0 lens and has Phase Detection AutoFocus, while the second sensor is a 5 MP one used for capturing depth information.
To the front, the phone uses an 8 MP selfie shooter that uses a f/2.2 aperture lens and has an 80.4° wide angle lens.

The Nokia X5 comes with a 3060 mAh battery that charges through the USB Type-C port. The phone has support for Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, Dual-Band 802.11 ac Wi-Fi, and GPS. For security, the phone offers a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Pricing and Availability of Nokia X5

The Nokia X5 comes in Black, Blue and White colors. The phone’s pricing starts from CNY 999
(USD 148/ INR 10,201) for the 3 GB variant with 64 GB storage, CNY 1399 (USD 208/ INR 14,283) for the 4 GB variant with 64 GB storage. The phone will be available for order through Suning, JD.com, Lynx as well as the official Nokia Website, starting July 19, in China. There’s no word on the availability the smartphone in markets other than China, as of now.
