Motorola Moto P30 with 6.2-inch display, Snapdragon 636 SOC launched in China

Motorola has launched their latest mid-range smartphone, the Motorola Moto P30, today, in China. The smartphone has a striking resemblance to the ever-so-popular iPhone X. It has a glass sandwich design with an aluminum frame in between. The Lenovo-owned company comes with ZUI, a custom User Interface designed for ZUK phones.

The Motorola Moto P30 features a 6.2-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2248×1080 pixels. The screen has a notch on the top with a thin chin at the bottom, resulting in a 19:9 aspect ratio. A Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 GPU powers the smartphone, coupled with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. The storage can further be expanded using the microSD card slot. The phone runs on Android Oreo with ZUI 4.0 on top.

The Moto P30 comes with a dual camera setup on the back, of which, the primary unit has a 16 MP OmniVision-made sensor with 1.25um pixel size, which sits behind a f/1.8 aperture. The second camera is a 5 MP unit with f/2.2 aperture used for capturing depth information for portraits. Despite having a powerful chipset and a capable camera, the phone can only record videos at a maximum resolution of 1080p 30 fps.
To the front, the Motorola Moto P30 comes with a 12 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture & 1.25um pixels. The front-facing camera offers AI portrait mode.

The 3000 mAh battery underneath has support for 18W fast charging through the provided USB Type-C port. For connectivity, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE, 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5, GPS.

The Moto P30 uses a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that sits inside the Moto dimple, as well as face unlock, for secured access. The phone comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and also has support for Dolby Atmos. The phone is splash-proofed with the nano-coating.

Pricing and Availability of Motorola Moto P30

The Motorola Moto P30 comes in Aurora, Black and White colors. The 6 GB RAM, 64 GB storage variant comes for CNY 2,099 (USD 303/ INR 21,219), whereas for the 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage variant CNY 2499 (USD 361/ INR 25,261) is the asking price. The phone will go on sale in China, in September 2018, while the availability of the phone in other markets is still unknown.

  5. Motorola take inspiration from Huawei P series in the design department apart all the spec’s including snapdragon 636 along with 6/8 GB RAM option around 22/26k is feels little bit overpriced as well, overall feels good but not up to the mark.
