Nokia 6 is officially launched in China, with 5.5-inch display, Snapdragon 430

HMD Global has officially launched the first Nokia Android smartphone of this year, after acquiring the company from Microsoft. The Nokia 6 is officially launched in China. A solid block of 6000 series aluminium is used to make the phone’s exterior, which means you are looking at a good metallic body.

Without dragging it, let us talk about the specs. The Nokia 6 has a hybrid in-cell 5.5” screen with full HD resolution with a 2.5D Gorilla Glass and the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor, an octa-core chipset with X6 LTE modem. There is also 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage and the phone runs Android 7.0 Nougat OS. The camera combination of the phone includes 16MP phase detection auto focus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and the same aperture size for the 8MP front-facing camera.

Arto Nummela, CEO, HMD Global said: “Just a short while ago we announced the launch of HMD Global. From the outset we have stated that we intend to move with speed to establish a position as a player in the smartphone category and create products that truly meet consumer needs. The Nokia 6 is a result of listening to our consumers who desire a beautifully crafted handset with exceptional durability, entertainment and display features.

Nokia 6 will be available exclusively in China through JD.com. Available in early 2017, Nokia 6 is 1699 CNY. This, according to HMD Global, is the first device with more coming in the first half of the year. HMD Global has the Nokia brand licensing rights which it had got in late 2016 and since then, there was a wait for the phones as Microsoft, the owner before this had launched a few Windows Phone devices and a couple of Nokia Android phones with a forked version of Android that looked much like the Windows phone interface.

The phone is exclusive for the Chinese market, so wait for the next phones to be officially launched if you are one of those waiting to get your hands on a Nokia Android-based smartphone.
