Samsung launches Exynos 9 Series Processor that could power Galaxy S8

Samsung Electronics has announced its latest Application processor; the Exynos 9 Series 8895. It the first chipset to take advantage of the most advanced 10-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology with improved 3D transistor structure. This new chipset consumes 40% less power at the same time giving 27% more performance power when compared to 14nm technology.

It is also the first chipset that comes with gigabit LTE modem supporting five carrier aggregation, or 5CA offering fast and stable data speeds at 1Gbps (Cat.16) downlink with the assistance of 5CA and 150Mbps (Cat.13) uplink with 2CA. The Exynos 8895 is an Octa-Core chip with four Samsung’s second gen custom cores for power and performance efficiency and four Cortex®-A53 cores. The Samsung Coherent Interconnect (SCI) technology integrates a heterogeneous system architecture thus allowing faster processing of applications such as artificial intelligence, and deep learning.

Moving along, the Exynos 9-series 8895 chipset provides a blissful media and gaming experience with powerful Mali™-G71 GPU that is well optimized for next level 3D graphical performance minimizing the latency for 4K UHD VR and gaming. It also supports the playback and recording of 4K UHD videos at 120fps and better video processing technology.

Apart from Media and performance, the 8895 comes with a special processing unit dedicated for security solutions required for mobile payments. It uses iris or fingerprint sensor or embedded Vision Processing Unit (VPU) to recognize and analyze items or movements for better video tracking, panoramic image processing, and machine vision technology. The Exynos 8895 chipset is currently in mass production, so we will be seeing the new chipset in action very soon.
