Samsung Galaxy Note 9 with 6.44-inch Super AMOLED display launched in India, prices start at Rs. 67,900

After a being available for pre-order for two weeks now, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone in the Note-series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, is officially launched in India, today. The smartphone is priced at INR 67,900 for the base variant and 84,900 for the top-end 512 GB storage variant. The phone can be purchased from Amazon India, Flipkart & Samsung India online store. The phone is also available for purchase on Airtel Online store (128 GB variant only), Paytm Mall.

Other offers include INR 6000 cashback on purchasing it from PayTm Mall, as well as buyers who pay for the purchase of Galaxy Note 9 through their HDFC card.

Hours after the US launch, the flagship Samsung Galaxy Note 9, is now available for pre-orders in India. The company will be taking pre-orders on their website, Samsung.com starting today, while the shipping starts from August 20th. The 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage is priced at INR 67,900, while the 8 GB RAM variant with 512 GB will be available for INR 84,900.

Additionally, Samsung . is also offering INR 6000 off through the Samsung Upgrade program. Apart from this, buyers who purchase the Note 9 using their HDFC credit cards will receive an INR 6000 cashback. The company is also offering Samsung Gear Sport for INR. 4,999 which originally costs INR 22,990 for users who pre-order the Note 9.

The phone will also be available for pre-orders on Amazon and Flipkart, soon. Interested buyers who purchase the device from PayTm Mall will get a cashback of INR 6,000, as well.

Samsung has finally unveiled their flagship smartphone in the Note-series, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, at the Unpacked event, in New York, today. The phone comes in both Snapdragon and Exynos variants, and a new & improved S-Pen. The phone also comes with the Bixby button on the left, which when pressed, triggers Samsung’s AI assistant, Bixby.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity display with a resolution of 1440×2960 pixels. The display is HDR10 compliant and has support for Always on display. Protecting the 18:9 Infinity display, is the Corning Gorilla Glass.

Chipset & OS

Powering the Galaxy Note 9 is the Snapdragon 845 chipset with Adreno 630 GPU for the US variant, while the global variant ships with the homegrown Exynos 9810 processor with Mali-G72 MP18 GPU. The phone comes with 6 GB RAM with 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage or 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM with a huge 512 GB UFS 2.1 storage, which can be further expanded up to another 512 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience on top.

Cameras

In the camera department, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with dual rear cameras, which uses two 12 MP units. The primary 12 MP sensor sits behind a variable aperture lens of f/2.4 – f/1.5, while the secondary snapper is a 12 MP telephoto camera with a f/2.4 aperture. The primary 12 MP can record 960 fps super slow-motion videos.

To the front, the phone features an 8 MP auto-focus camera, which has a wide-angle lens and an aperture of f/1.7. The front-facing camera can be used for AR Emoji, which uses machine learning to analyze more than 100 facial points to create a 3D model of your face, which recreates and imitates user’s expressions.

The Galaxy Note 9 features a new Intelligent Camera that comes with scene detection, which optimizes colors, contrast, as well as detects flaws such as smudges on the lens and people with closed eyes.

Battery & Ingress Protection

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 packs in a massive 4000 mAh battery which supports fast wired and wireless charging. Although the phone supports fast charging, it uses Samsung’s Adaptive Charge technology, which is limited to the age-old Quick Charge 2.0. The wireless charging standards include both the WPC and PMA. The phone is IP68 certified with water resistance up to 1.5 meters of water for 30 minutes.

Audio & Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is the first Note-series phone to come with stereo speakers, tuned by AKG. There’s also support for Dolby Atmos audio. On the connectivity front, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5 LE with up to 2 Mbps speed, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Dual-Band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with VHT80 Mu-MIMO support. It also comes with MST chip for wireless payments through Samsung Pay.

Security & Sensors

For security, the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and also has an Iris scanner for face unlock. It also comes with a heart rate monitor on the back, for users to measure their Heart Rate and SpO2 levels.

S-Pen

The S-Pen is the reason why people buy the Note-series, which is why Samsung has added new smart features in it. The new S-Pen is the first pen which is Bluetooth-enabled. The S-Pen has a maximum range of 10 meters or 33-feet. The Pen can be used as a remote shutter for the camera, which can offer up to 30-minutes of use or up to 200 clicks. It takes only 40 secs to recharge fully, when placed inside the phone. The S-Pen now comes with three inputs which are a short, long and double-click.

Samsung Dex

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 supports Samsung DeX feature. Unlike the Samsung S9, it doesn’t need a DeX Dock to enter the DeX mode, and instead uses a USB C to HDMI cable. The Note 9 can be used either as a keyboard or a trackpad, when in DeX mode.

Pricing and Availability of the Samsung Galaxy Note 9

The Samsung Galaxy Note 9 comes in four colors, which are, Lavender Purple, Midnight Blue, Ocean Blue and a brand new Metallic Copper variant. The pricing of the phone is USD 999 (INR 68,736) for the 6 GB RAM with 128 GB storage variant, while the 8 GB RAM with 512 GB option will set you back at USD 1,250 (INR 86,006)
