Sony Xperia XZ Premium has 4K HDR display, Snapdragon 835, 960 fps slo-mo videos

Sony was the first to have 4K display on a smartphone when it introduced the Xperia Z5 Premium. Now, the company has no plans to move away from its own trend as the Xperia XZ Premium, the newly announced smartphone from the company at MWC 2017, has a 4K HDR resolution display. The smartphone is set to be powerful and big on numbers in every way.

The Xperia XZ Premium has the world’s first 4K HDR screen, with the resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels. It makes sense, according to Sony, as there is HDR content now available and the company has partnered with Amazon for the 4K HDR content to be played on this device.

It isn’t only the display that is new, though. Sony is calling its new camera setup as the Motion Eye camera. The camera stack directly houses fast memory to enable another feature that is not seen so far in smartphones – 960p super slow motion videos at 720p resolution. As soon as the camera detects any motion in the frame, it will start buffering shots so that it is an almost zero lag you would see when you take a picture with the camera of the Xperia XZ. The triple-sensor system that was seen on the XZ is what the Premium device also offers. The camera also gets the support from Laser autofocus, RGBC infrared sensor, and there is an updated ExmorRS image sensor.

The new camera has a 19-megapixel ExmorRS sensor, and the lesser resolution means Sony could have larger pixels, which is about 19% increase. The Bionz processing system that helps process the images in the smartphone has been upgraded for better motion detection and reduction of noise.

The color options offered with the Sony Xperia XZ Premium include the Luminous Chrome and Deepsea Black, both of which seem very reflective and fingerprint magnets. Since it is a glass body, the front and back of the phone has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection and the device offers a 5.5-inch display size.

As for the power, the phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and there is a 3230 mAh battery to keep such powerful stuff actively running, so don’t expect the phone to run for long before asking for a charge again. The Xperia XZ Premium is IP65 and IP68 rated, and as was the case with its previous phones, Sony has the fingerprint sensor integrated on the power button located on the side frame.

Sony is not launching this phone right away, and thus, we are not sure of its availability details and any hints of the price too are not given.
